Ethereum's price recently surged past $2,400, mirroring Bitcoin's upward trend and offering relief to investors after a prolonged downturn. The cryptocurrency is now stabilizing, suggesting a period of sideways movement. This consolidation positions Ethereum at a critical juncture where the battle between bullish and bearish forces will determine its next move.

Crypto analyst TheChartWhisperr has identified a significant development in Ethereum's price action. The analyst noted that Ethereum tested higher liquidity pools, specifically the $2,480 level, before facing rejection. Despite this rejection, the analyst views this move as a "sweep of the liquidity pool" on a higher timeframe, indicating that the price has "taken out the buyside pool."

Following this move and subsequent rejection, Ethereum has entered an ascending channel, with the $2,346 level potentially acting as resistance. TheChartWhisperr believes this sequence of events has confirmed a "turtle soup" pattern. This pattern suggests that Ethereum is poised to complete its charted trajectory, which could lead to either further upward momentum or a significant decline.

The analyst outlines two potential scenarios: an upward continuation if Ethereum reclaims $2,385 on a 4-hour close, signaling a potential continuation of the uptrend. Conversely, bears could drive the price down towards the $2,040 level, a point of equilibrium where the price might find stability in case of a further sell-off. TheChartWhisperr advises caution, emphasizing that entry decisions should be based on specific technical indicators like the Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) on lower timeframes to determine if it's a continuation of a downtrend or a V-shaped recovery.

Analysts expect Monday to be an “eventful” trading session. 

The question, though, is whether this is the most diplomatic way of describing what might actually unfold.

Looking at the ongoing developments surrounding the Iran-U.S. conflict, the word “eventful” seems like an understated way of describing what the U.S. stock market could face on Monday, the 20th April. 

For context, the past 72 hours have been highly volatile.

From the ceasefire boost to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s post about the Strait of Hormuz reopening, followed by the Iranian government’s immediate dismissal of his claims, the crypto market has mirrored this exact sequence.

Bitcoin [BTC] briefly broke above $78k, only to pull back toward $75k. This raises an important question: Where is crypto headed next?

After the market reached $2.4k, traders in the derivatives market began realizing profits. As a result, the Taker Buy Sell Ratio dropped below 1, reaching a three-week low of 0.9.

But after two days, the metric bounced back above 1 to 1.022 at press time. A value at these levels suggested that traders, including whales, began opening new positions again.

Lookonchain reported one such whale trader. The Matrixport-linked whale, who previously cashed out over $398 million with a profit of $68.47 million, re-entered the market.  

After Ethereum [ETH] dropped to $2.2, the whale returned and opened a 44,000 ETH long position, valued at approximately $100 million. So far, with the market under extreme volatility, the position is down $722k and has spent over $5k in funding.

The whale opening a long position signaled bullishness as they eyed a trend reversal. However, most market participants are shorting the market.

Analysts at Moody’s Analytics and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities indicate that the BOJ is likely to adopt a cautious approach, carefully assessing the inflationary effects of rising energy prices before making policy adjustments.As a result, expectations have shifted toward a possible rate hike in June rather than April.
