The crypto market suffered a slight dip on Saturday, April 18th, after the tensions in the Middle East took an interesting turn over the weekend. On Friday, United States President Donald Trump announced that Iran fully reopened the Strait of Hormuz (for the first time since March) for the free passage of oil vessels, with the global financial markets and crypto reacting positively to the news. However, Iran announced on Saturday that it has closed the Strait again, with digital asset prices dropping on the back of the fresh development.

Bitcoin Falls Below $76k As Iran Closes Strait Again

On Saturday, Iran’s military announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz again, with reports suggesting at least three attacks on commercial ships along the waterway. After President Trump’s several announcements going into the weekend, the Iranian Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Ghalibaf, said the US president made “seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false.”

What’s interesting is that the crypto and global financial markets have been seeing a return of bullish momentum after a ceasefire agreement was reached between the United States and Iran in recent weeks. However, with the ceasefire agreement set to expire in a couple of days and negotiations looking broken down, volatility and uncertainty seem set to return to the markets in the coming days.

According to data from CoinGecko, the global cryptocurrency market capitalization is down by more than 2%, with the Bitcoin and Ethereum prices showing dips of 2% and 3%, respectively. Specifically, the premier cryptocurrency, which ran up to a 10-week high of around $77,500 on Friday, is now back below $76,000.

Blockchain sleuth accuses RaveDAO of knowing who manipulated the price of its token


Blockchain sleuth ZachXBT wrote on Sunday that the team behind RaveDAO is at least aware of who manipulated the price of its token, which saw an impossible 11,000% surge in price followed by a near immediate collapse.

“I found suspicious CEX (centralized crypto exchanges) activity on April 26 tied to RaveDAO team addresses onchain, which potentially contradicts their recent statements,” the blockchain investigator said.

In a separate post, ZachXBT flagged a transfer from a $RAVE address used for “initial distribution” by RaveDAO from which roughly $23 million worth of tokens were transferred to two Bitget deposit addresses causing the price to drop 40% from $1 to $0.6.

RaveDAO posted a six-part X thread on Saturday, previously reported by CoinDesk, stating “we are aware of the rumors and accusations circulating regarding $RAVE and the RaveDAO team. We want to be clear: RaveDAO team is not engaged in, nor responsible for, recent price action.”

However, ZachXBT said, “given the supply concentration, the team at minimum knows who is responsible for this price action.”

In a separate X post, the investigator said, “you expect the community to believe $RAVE went $60M -> $6B mkt cap organically in nine days with little to no utility? Considering your team handled the initial distribution with a low float it’s unlikely you do not know the party responsible for it.”

The RaveDAO token, which increased by nearly 11,000% in nine days from about $0.25 to $27.33, then plunged by over 90%, losing roughly $5.7 billion in market capitalization in just 48 hours. Its price currently hovers around $0.67.

Despite the extended and stubborn market weakness, the Trump team has signaled another potential sale.

According to Onchain Lens, the TRUMP team sent 7.59 million TRUMP, worth $21.81 million, into BitGo Custody.

For now, these tokens have not been sold. However, the team previously moved tokens to the wallet and then deposited them into exchanges.

Expert Analyst Delves Deep into Bitcoin: “Both Rises and Falls Aren’t What They Used to Be!”

Although the price of Bitcoin ($BTC) increases numerically in each cycle, its actual upward momentum and potential are decreasing.

Galaxy Digital research head Alex Thorn argues that the current Bitcoin market cycle is dramatically weaker compared to the previous three cycles.

At this point, Thorn compared the price movements since the Bitcoin halving in April 2024 to the 2012, 2016, and 2020 cycles.

The study concluded that volatility has significantly decreased in the current cycle and the upside potential is lower.

Although Bitcoin reached its all-time high of over $125,000 on October 5, 2025, it only managed to surpass 97% of its 2024 halving price of approximately $63,000. According to the analyst, this indicates that the peak of the cycle so far has been significantly calmer compared to other cycles.

This increase is quite small compared to other cycles. According to historical data, in the 2012 halving cycle, the $BTC price increased by approximately 9,294%, rising to $1,163. In 2016, it approached $19,891 with an increase of approximately 2,950%, and finally, in the 2020 cycle, a gain of approximately 761% was observed.

According to the analyst, the decreasing volatility with each new $BTC halving cycle indicates that traditional market dynamics are changing and that the price is becoming more influenced by factors other than the four-year halving cycle theory.

While bull cycles in Bitcoin are becoming less frequent, Fidelity analysts also note that with decreasing volatility, Bitcoin declines are becoming less severe.
