Solana cryptocurrency reached an all-time high of $295 in January 2026. Now, its trading price has plummeted to around $84—a 68% drop, wiping out billions of dollars in market capitalization and triggering over $300 million in long position liquidations in a single day, including a single position worth $6.69 million that was wiped out within hours. Such a massive decline is no accident.

What makes the current situation even more difficult to judge is the structural deterioration occurring below the price.

The number of validators has plummeted from approximately 2,500 to below 800, a drop of 68%, almost perfectly coinciding with the price movement. This is not a coincidence. This pattern deserves our in-depth understanding before determining whether the price has bottomed out.

Can Solana Crypto (SOL) return to $120? Or will it fall below $80?

Glassnode data shows that the 30-day average realized profit/loss ratio has fallen below 1, confirming that losses exceed profits.  This is a bearish signal, not a contrarian buy signal—at least not yet. The double-top pattern at $265, coupled with the neckline failure at $170, suggests the market had already priced in this bad news long before most retail investors noticed.

As prices fell, on-chain activity also weakened. Monthly transaction volume dropped 10% to 1.79 billion, active addresses fell 5.7% to 49.1 million, and network fees fell 21% to $14 million over the same period.

Solana cryptocurrency remains the blockchain with the highest transaction volume, but its activity is declining rather than rising. This is crucial when bullish arguments are built on network penetration.

The crypto market right now is in an interesting phase. Prices are moving, but not exploding yet. That's usually where long-term opportunities start building. Instead of chasing pumps, many investors are looking at strong setups-projects with either solid fundamentals or early-stage growth potential.

Right now, four names are standing out in that mix: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and a newer entry-Little Pepe (LILPEPE).

Bitcoin Still Leading, But Facing Key Barriers

Bitcoin is currently trading around the $68,000-$74,000 range, holding its position as the market leader but still struggling to fully break into a strong uptrend.

From a technical view, major resistance sits around $72,000 and $78,000. Until those levels are properly reclaimed, the market is likely to stay in a consolidation phase.

On the downside, support zones are forming between $65,000-$63,000 in broader structure terms, showing that Bitcoin still has long-term strength but limited short-term explosiveness.

For long-term investors, Bitcoin remains the "safe" play-but the upside is more gradual compared to smaller-cap assets.

Ethereum Holding Stable With Moderate Growth Potential

Ethereum is currently hovering around the $1,820-$2,300 range, showing relatively stable performance compared to other altcoins.

It's not breaking out aggressively, but it's also not showing major weakness. That's mainly because Ethereum continues to act as the backbone of DeFi, NFTs, and tokenization.

The short-term rising channel that has been forming since the February lows remains the dominant structure on the 4-hour chart, with the asset currently at $71k. The $74-$76k area has recently rejected lower, and the market is at risk of a revisit to the lower boundary of the pattern, currently around $67k.

The RSI on this timeframe, however, has dropped significantly lower and is now below 50. While still not deeply into bearish territory, this suggests a potential short-term shift in momentum to bearish.

A confirmed close above $75k would invalidate the bearish scenario and lead to the price making a run toward the $80k level. On the other hand, a deeper drop and breakdown below the lower trendline would be more concerning, and could shift focus back to the $60k daily support zone.

Hyperliquid could soon gain an extra investor base as its U.S Spot $HYPE ETF debut looks imminent.

According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, Bitwise updated its Spot $HYPE ETF filing, including a ticker BHYP and a fee 0.67%. Per Balchunas, such updates “typically mean a launch is soon,” adding that,

$HYPE is up 200% in the past year, so they’re probably trying to strike while iron hot

Bitwise first filed for the product in September 2025. A month later, 21Shares followed suit and made a similar application.

In March 2026, Grayscale joined the fray, bringing the total number of issuers to three. Both Bitwise and Grayscale plan to include a $HYPE staking feature in the future.

If approved, $HYPE will join BTC, Ethereum [ETH], and Solana [$SOL] as top crypto assets that enjoy massive interest from treasury firms and ETF investors.

Will Hyperliquid’s priority fees boost $HYPE?

In another development, Hyperliquid is testing a feature that would allow traders who want faster execution to pay a little fee (priority fees) for HIP-3 trades (oil, gold, and other non-crypto assets).

This would be a welcome update that is already live on most Solana apps like Jupiter [JUP], which grants the most advanced traders and firms priority order execution.

This became a game-changer, reducing the infamous Solana network congestion. In return, the charged priority fees, paid in $SOL, are shared with validators.

For Hyperliquid, however, the priority fees, paid in $HYPE, will be used for buyback and token burns.

That said, $HYPE token has bounced about 20% in April and could retest the recent high of $43 and eye the $50 psychological level.

However, the broader structure still depends on the $35 support zone. Even if $HYPE sees a short-term pullback, a bounce from this zone could keep the path toward $43 and $50 intact.
