The competition in the Al industry has evolved from a battle over model technology to a full-blown war over computing power, talent, products, and ecosystem.

In this war, any "technological utopia" attempting to remain aloof has entered a siege.

In April 2026, DeepSeek, a rising star in the Chinese Al industry, was reported to have launched its first external financing round, planning to raise at least $300 million at a valuation of no less than $10 billion.

The news sent shockwaves through the market.

DeepSeek, seemingly flush with cash, was asking for money.

This move shattered founder Liang Wenfeng's previous idealistic narrative of "refusing financing and maintaining independence."

However, it was only in 2024, when a Yen carry trade unwind led to gold surging by 9% and the S&P 500 surging by 7%, whereas BTC was up by only 3%.

Crypto funds draw $1.4B in third straight week of inflows, strongest since January

Digital asset investment products pulled in $1.4 billion last week, their strongest weekly haul since January and the third consecutive week of positive flows, according to CoinShares’ new report.

The result was driven by recovering risk sentiment tied to US-Iran ceasefire extension talks and Bitcoin’s mid-week move above $76,000, its highest level since February, the report notes.

Total assets under management reached $155 billion, with weekly flows representing 0.91% of AUM, the highest weekly intensity recorded year-to-date.

March CPI data, which came in at 3.3% year-on-year with a benign core reading of 2.6%, appeared to have little dampening effect on investor appetite.

Bitcoin and Ethereum led inflows, as altcoins diverged

Bitcoin drew $1.116 billion in inflows, lifting year-to-date totals to $3.1 billion, as its break above $76,000 marked a meaningful technical development following two months of range-bound trading.

Short-Bitcoin products saw just $1.4 million in inflows, indicating limited but residual hedging demand.

Ethereum attracted $328 million, its best weekly performance since January, bringing year-to-date flows to $197 million.

XRP and Solana recorded outflows of $56 million and $2.3 million, respectively, even as Bitcoin and Ethereum surged.

Regional flows show mixed signals

The regional breakdown is uneven. The US dominated with $1.5 billion in inflows and Germany chipped in $28 million, but Switzerland saw $138 million in outflows, the largest Swiss exit since November.

Market updates

Bitcoin traded at $75,249 at press time, up about 6% over the past seven days, while Ethereum gained more than 5% over the same period to top $2,300, per CoinGecko. Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.6 trillion.

Tether backs UAE tokenization firm KAIO in $8M funding round to bring Emirati funds onchain



Abu Dhabi-regulated tokenization firm KAIO said Monday it had raised $8 million in a strategic funding round backed by Tether and several other crypto and institutional investors, as it builds infrastructure to bring traditional funds onto blockchain rails.

The round brings KAIO’s total funding to $19 million. New investors include Systemic Ventures, while Further Ventures and Laser Digital joined again alongside earlier backers such as Brevan Howard Digital.

KAIO said it develops infrastructure that allows asset managers to distribute funds onchain. It packages products from firms like BlackRock, Brevan Howard and Hamilton Lane, then makes them accessible through blockchain-based systems.

With the investment, KAIO plans to expand into other products such as credit, structured investments and exchange-traded funds. The firm said it plans to launch onchain fund with Mubadala Capital, the Emirati private equity firm with $385 billion in assets under management.

By creating tokens of institutional funds, the firm said its goal is to lower investor barriers to entry. KAIO targets minimum investments starting at $100 for eligible users, far below the typical thresholds for institutional funds.

Tether's involvement ties the model to stablecoin flows. USDT is the most popular stablecoin, boasting a $185 billion supply, and is often used to move money across borders, especially in emerging markets. KAIO aims to channel that liquidity into regulated investment products.

"KAIO’s unique position unlocks new pathways for capital formation and investment by bringing institutional-grade assets onchain and making them more broadly accessible, helping expand participation in global financial markets," Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in a statement.

WLD Falls 13% as World Adds Iris Verification to Zoom and Docusign

Zoom is integrating World's Deep Face authentication into its video conferencing platform to detect and block deepfakes.

WLD dropped 13.4% to around $0.28 on Friday, while the broader crypto market gained 2.2% on the same day. The drop came as World, the identity verification company led by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, announced several new partnerships for its iris-scanning verification system.

Zoom is integrating World's Deep Face authentication into its video conferencing platform to detect and block deepfakes. Docusign is adding World's identity verification to its electronic signature workflow. Dating app Tinder is rolling out World ID verification for users in the United States.

World confirmed all three integrations on Friday.

World described the announcements as a direct response to the growing threat of Al-generated content. "As Al agents increasingly act on behalf of real people, the infrastructure to prove a human stands behind each agent becomes critical," the company said.
