Payments company Wise says it will revisit its application strategy with the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) after the regulator rejected its push to become a national trust bank. In a notice issued Thursday, Wise said it intends to reapply under a GENIUS Act framework—US legislation designed to create a regulated pathway for payment stablecoin activities.

The shift matters because Wise’s original charter plan has now been explicitly denied, and the GENIUS Act is meant to offer clarity for stablecoin issuers and payment providers once regulators finalize the rules. Wise’s next steps will therefore be closely watched by other fintechs weighing stablecoin-related business models in the US.

In its rejection, the agency said Wise failed to demonstrate that it had an effective AML/CFT compliance program and referenced “other illicit finance activity risks.” Those deficiencies formed the basis of the refusal to grant the national trust bank charter.

raised $52.5M via token sale? The World Foundation, the non-profit organization that governs the World network (formerly Worldcoin), has raised $52.5M to advance the network. However, the deal soon triggered a 9% $WLD token price crash.

According to the organization, the deal was made possible by selling $WLD tokens to strategic investors including Pantera Capital, Selini Capital, Bain Capital Crypto, and Eightco Holdings.

On-chain data showed that the non-profit transferred 217.4M $WLD, with analysts estimating that the token's sale price was $0.2415 per $WLD.

That would translate to a 30% discount from the press time price level of $0.3445 or a whopping 40% discount from $WLD's price of $0.386 on Friday, before the update went public.

However, for its part, the World Foundation insisted the deal was based on the market price. Funding was through a direct purchase of market-priced $WLD. Cybersecurity firm JUMPSEC said it recovered and analysed source code from an active phishing kit after its operators exposed JavaScript source maps on live infrastructure. The files showed separate Zoom and Teams lures, wallet-scanning tools, operator controls and malware delivery paths for Windows and macOS.

The hackers take over accounts belonging to crypto contacts, then send a Calendly invitation that leads to a lookalike meeting domain. JUMPSEC described the system as a repeatable victim pipeline because one stolen Telegram session can help the attackers contact the next group of targets.The phishing page starts scanning the browser when a user enters the fake meeting. It looks for Ethereum wallet connections through EIP-6963 and older browser methods. It also checks for non-EVM wallets, including Solana tools. The results reach an operator panel without alerting the victim. This lets the attackers identify wallets and choose higher-value targets before pushing the next stage.

On Windows, the implant also lists extension IDs across Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and Firefox variants. Operators can compare those IDs with known wallet extensions such as MetaMask. JUMPSEC called this

The company behind the cryptocurrency and stock trading app, Robinhood, is reportedly discussing plans to expand its existing prediction markets offering with crypto exchange Crypto.com.

According to a Friday Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the matter, Robinhood was in talks with Crypto.com to place yes-or-no event contracts supplied by the exchange. The trading company launched its prediction markets hub in March 2025, initially facilitated by Kalshi in order to comply with regulatory requirements from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and later using ForecastEx and Rotella.

The reported move came just days after Bernstein analysts raised the firm’s price target on Robinhood (HOOD) stock to $160 from $130 per share, based on the company’s outlook for prediction markets and tokenized equities. They predicted Robinhood’s revenue using prediction markets could reach $1.7 billion by 2028.

Local 10 News first reported the case on July 15, citing a 15-page federal criminal complaint that outlined the alleged malware scheme.

The complaint alleges that the operation ran from May 2024 through February 2026, compromising roughly 8,000 devices through eight infected games. Federal investigators accuse Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins, 21, of North Lauderdale, Florida, of providing financial support for the malware operation and helping promote the campaign.
