Hyperliquid: Can $1.2M in token burns help HYPE flip $60?

Hyperliquid generated $1.4 million in fees and burned 20.64K HYPE worth $1.2 million.

Hyperliquid [HYPE] has historically deployed deflationary mechanisms to control supply and absorb market pressure. The project has mostly used the protocol’s revenue for token buybacks and burns to achieve these goals. 

With HYPE prolonging its stay below $60, the project once again used its revenue to reduce inflation. Since August 2025, the Hyperliquid network has generated $800 million in net income, with HyperCore accounting for 95% of the income. 

Interestingly, most of the funds generated have been spent on token buybacks. Out of the $1.03 billion generated, $1.01 billion has been used for buybacks and burns. 

Over the past day, for example, Hyperliquid generated $1.4 million in fees and burned 20.64K HYPE worth $1.2 million. However, despite the buyback and burns, the capital spent here has plummeted significantly, falling 61%. 

With the recent burn, Hyperliquid has burned 4.73% of the token’s supply according to Onchain Lens. This also marks over 15% of the currently circulating supply.

The sustained capital deployment toward deflationary measures has gone a long way toward stabilizing the HYPE token. As a result, HYPE has remained strong even during a prolonged period of broader market weakness.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has warned that Bitcoin could eventually lose its position as the world’s largest cryptocurrency if it fails to adapt to quantum computing.

Speaking in an interview on The Starting Block, Hoskinson claimed that Bitcoin’s biggest weakness is its limited ability to implement major protocol upgrades. 

He argued that Bitcoin’s governance model makes significant network changes difficult, a challenge that could become critical as quantum computing advances and threatens today’s cryptographic security.

Quantum Computing Could Become Bitcoin’s Biggest Test
According to Hoskinson, Bitcoin has successfully overcome several external challenges throughout its history, including the disappearance of its pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

However, he stressed that quantum computing represents a fundamentally different threat. Unlike previous challenges, quantum-resistant security would likely require coordinated, network-wide upgrades. If Bitcoin cannot organize and deploy those changes efficiently, Hoskinson believes it could eventually lose its dominance in the cryptocurrency market.

U.S. regulator warns prediction markets against cutting corners in event contracts.The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which has claimed a role as the leading regulator of prediction markets firms run by companies such as Kalshi, Coinbase, Polymarket and Crypto.com, issued an advisory on Friday reminding the businesses that they shouldn't cut corners with far-ranging contract certifications meant to encompass a wide array of events.

The agency said that "broad, template-style certifications should not be submitted," marking the second time in recent months that the regulator has had to warn about overly generalized submissions.

Many of the "designated contract markets" regulated by the CFTC "continue to self-certify event contracts" (in other words, prediction market contracts) as broad templates "without supplying the terms and conditions of each proposed permutation and a concise explanation and analysis with respect to the product’s terms and conditions, the underlying commodity, and the product’s compliance," the agency said.

Ten dairy cows in Paraná, Brazil, carried encrypted identities that Cowmed collars had built from each animal's health, behavior, and location data into B3 this week.

Those identities turned the cows into collateral for nearly $20,000 in credit, and the record behind them aims to shrink the haircut lenders apply and stop lenders from pledging the same animal twice.
