Charles Hoskinson says Cardano’s “best days are ahead,” even as its native token, ADA, trades 95% below its all-time high.

The Cardano founder made the remark during a recent X AMA. He was responding to ADA’s prolonged slump and the criticism that has followed it.

Why Cardano is Feeling the Pressure

ADA trades near $0.16 today. The token hit its all-time high of $3.09 in September 2021 and has fallen 53% so far this year alone.

Governance disputes, builder shutdowns, and Cardano’s canceled 2026 summit have deepened the pressure. Hoskinson has also faced mounting criticism from the community over the slide. He stepped back from social media at one point, then returned to address the backlash directly.

Hoskinson Has a Plan

The comment echoes Hoskinson’s recent push for a funding overhaul. He wants to clear a backlog of more than 600 million ADA in treasury requests. He argues that the network’s security and utility drive ADA’s price, not short-term speculation.

The bottleneck comes down to a hard cap. Cardano’s treasury allows only 350 million ADA in net funding changes at a time, well short of what builders are requesting. Hoskinson has proposed spreading development across more independent companies instead of leaning on Input Output Global, the firm he leads, to carry the load alone.

Calling for an immediate vote, the Coinbase executive maintained that lawmakers had spent thousands of hours developing the compromise and should complete the legislative process without further delays.

The X post also included a clip from Armstrong's July 21 CNBC interview, where he described the legislation as the product of years of bipartisan negotiations.

Armstrong remarked:

"The CLARITY Act is at the one-yard line, and it reflects the work from both sides of the aisle, spending thousands of hours along with their staff to get a true bipartisan compromise."

The Coinbase CEO used the football metaphor to argue that the legislation is extremely close to advancing and should receive a final Senate vote without further delay.

The collapse of the crypto treasury trade is pushing struggling public companies toward the market's newest source of investor enthusiasm: artificial intelligence.

According to a new Bloomberg report, at least a dozen digital-asset treasury (DAT) firms have shifted into Al-related ventures in recent months as token prices and their own valuations declined. Early results have been bleak.

K Wave Media, once focused on accumulating bitcoin, has fallen 71% since turning toward data center development in May. Lixte Biotechnology has lost 33% since agreeing to merge with a battery company in June. Alphaton Capital, previously a holder of alternative cryptocurrencies, is down 33% since rebranding as Alpha Compute in April. Industry observers reckon that most digital-asset treasury firms are either moving into Al or dying a slow death.

Crypto Treasury Premiums Disappear

Digital-asset treasury companies raised capital and issued stock to buy cryptocurrencies, hoping their shares would trade at a premium to the value of those holdings.

The model flourished as token prices climbed. It began to unravel once many companies fell below the net value of their crypto reserves.
