Over the past six months, exchange-held BTC has fallen from 2.783 million BTC to 2.705 million BTC—a decline of roughly 78,000 BTC. Instead of moving coins onto exchanges to sell, many holders continue withdrawing BTC into self-custody.
Historically, major market bottoms are often accompanied by shrinking exchange balances, as long-term investors choose to hold rather than distribute their coins.
That doesn't guarantee an immediate rebound, but it does suggest sell-side liquidity is becoming tighter.
A key metric to watch is the 7-day moving average of exchange netflows. If it turns consistently positive, it could signal renewed selling pressure and increase the likelihood of another test of lower support levels. Until then, the on-chain supply trend continues to favor long-term accumulation over broad distribution.
