Bitcoin roars back above $80K as ETF demand, Treasury buybacks fuel rallyBitcoin rose above $80,000 on Tuesday for the first time since mid-May, extending its strongest weekly rally in more than two years.

Bitcoin (BTC) traded as high as $81,160.06, bringing its seven-day gain to about 25.8%, CoinGecko data shows.

The rally coincided with renewed demand through US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which drew $1.92 billion in net inflows last week.

“This week’s strength has been led by fundamental spot demand and allocator flows through ETFs rather than by pure leverage, and rallies built on that base tend to be more durable than ones driven by crowded futures positioning,” Fabian Dori, chief investment officer at Sygnum Bank, told Cointelegraph.

On Wednesday, the US Treasury said it would at least double the maximum size of its long-end liquidity-support buybacks to $4 billion per operation. President Donald Trump also urged Congress to pass crypto market structure legislation at a White House event.

Bernstein analysts led by Gautam Chhugani described the Treasury decision as the “strong trigger” for Bitcoin’s rise, noting that the cryptocurrency has historically responded positively to liquidity expansion.

Bitcoin extends 7-day advance to roughly 25%
Bitcoin $BTC$79,831.30 climbed more than 4% over the past 24 hours to cross the $80,000 level for the first time since May and extending its seven-day advance to roughly 25%. The wider CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index added 2.7% on the day.

The crypto rally started last week after the U.S. Treasury said it would at least double the size of buybacks of long-dated bonds, and accelerated as spot crypto buying and deepening liquidity pointed to “meaningful capital deployment,” according to Glassnode.

Still, analysts at Bitfinex struck a cautious tone, noting that roughly $3 billion in crypto short positions were liquidated in two days while bitcoin network transactions remained near eight-year lows.

Gold, meanwhile, kept climbing. It’s now at a three-month high of $4,650 an ounce, while Brent crude shed more than 2% in the past 24 hours as markets appear to dismiss the U.S.’ widening crackdown on Iran through its “economic D-Day.”

CF Benchmarks, the benchmark administrator that manages CME’s cryptocurrency indices, will calculate and publish the new products. The lineup contains daily reference rates that provide a fixed valuation point, along with real-time indices that update during the trading day.
Under the regional format, the CME CF Ethena-Dollar Reference Rate tracks the London close under the ENAUSD RR identifier. ENAUSD NY provides a New York closing rate, while ENAUSD AP covers the end of the APAC trading day.Each rate is published at 4 p.m. in its respective region. By using three local closing times, the suite lets firms select a valuation point that corresponds with their working day instead of applying one global cutoff to a market that never closes.

Publication continues seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays. $ENA trades continuously on cryptocurrency exchanges, so its price can change when traditional stock, bond, and derivatives markets are closed.

Alongside the daily rates, the associated real-time indices provide updated dollar prices throughout the day. Trading desks may use those figures to monitor positions, compare execution prices or measure intraday exposure, while a daily rate gives accountants and fund administrators a fixed figure for reporting.

The updated forecast was shared by Zaye Capital Markets. The study firm pointed out that Bitcoin’s market behaviour is becoming more complex. $BTC can still move with risk assets such as equities. Institutional Demand Soars For Bitcoin
The first major catalyst for Bitcoin price rally is stronger institutional participation. More upside is required of genuine buying demand, Zaye Capital Markets said. A surge that is largely fueled by short sellers’ closing trades could be short-lived, they stated.

Recently, around $1.92 billion in combined net inflows have poured into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs since August 17. The first day, on August 17, the funds raised $297.5 million; the second day, on August 18, they pulled in $189.3 million.

Moreover, on 19 August, the inflows surged to $517.2 million, followed by another increase to $606.3 million on 20 August. Another $307.5 million flowed into the funds on Aug. 21, per Farside UK data.

However, fresh inflows into the institutions can offer better support. Bitcoin ETFs have paved a regulated path for traditional investors to enter the $BTC market. Allocations from big financial players then could be a key price driver.

The second catalyst is regulatory developments, particularly the CLARITY Act. A higher level of understanding may help financial institutions get into the crypto market
