Crypto majors post double-digit weekly gains as bitcoin tests $75,000 ahead of Fed decision


Bitcoin BTC$74,074.35 briefly touched $75,912 early Tuesday before pulling back to $74,372, but the intraday volatility is less interesting than the weekly picture beneath it.

CoinDesk reported earlier Tuesday that the push above $75,000 was driven by derivatives activity rather than fresh buying, specifically the closure of large $60,000 put positions that forced market makers to buy spot bitcoin as they rebalanced.

The rapid pullback below $74,400, a former support level from April 2025, confirmed that traders aren't willing to chase above that level without a fundamental catalyst.

Every major token is up at least 5% over seven days. Ether climbed 13.3% to $2,316. xrp rose 11% to $1.53, olana gained 9.7% to $93.92. Dogecoin added 9.5% to $0.10, back above a dime. BNB rose 5% to $676. This is the broadest sustained rally since before the Iran war began, and it's happening heading into the most consequential Fed meeting in months.

But the institutional flow data underneath the rally is real and getting harder to dismiss. CF Benchmarks analyst Mark Pilipczuk noted in an email that spot bitcoin ETFs drew roughly $767 million in net inflows last week, the third consecutive week of positive flows and a sharp reversal from the five-week, $3 billion-plus outflow streak earlier in the year.


The gold convergence trade is another signal worth watching. Year-to-date through mid-March, GLD returned roughly 16% while IBIT lost approximately 19%. But that gap has narrowed sharply, with bitcoin outperforming gold by 13.2% since early March. The 90-day correlation between the two shifted from -0.27 to +0.29 over six months. The "digital gold" narrative that looked dead in February is getting oxygen again.

Bitcoin has always been the dominant one in the crypto space. However, according to the Stablecoin Utility Report 2026 by BVNK, stablecoins are now becoming a core part of everyday finance.

With the market crossing $300 billion, they are shifting from trading tools to practical financial infrastructure used by people worldwide.

Stablecoin are acting as a backbone

The report revealed that users now keep about one-third of their savings in stablecoins, while around 35% of gig workers’ income is received through them.

In fact, 75% of users say stablecoins have helped them do more international business, making global payments easier.

Interestingly, there is still significant trust towards traditional institutions. While most people currently manage stablecoins through crypto exchanges, 77% claimed they would use a stablecoin wallet if their bank or fintech provider offered one.

The memecoin sector experienced dramatic price movements in the past 24 hours, surging 9.79%. Its market capitalization even climbed to $32.82 billion at one point, with daily trading volume surging 78% to approximately $4.95 billion.

The shift in the top 20 memecoins by market capitalization was led by Fartcoin [FARTCOIN]. So the question arises – what's behind this surge in price and trading volume?

FARTCOIN leads in daily capital inflows, but liquidity remains an issue.

On-chain data shows that FARTCOIN leads Solana [SOL] memecoin in daily capital inflows. According to Sun Flow data, approximately $383,000 in whale funds flowed into FARTCOIN, surpassing Pudgy Penguins [PENGU], which ranked second with $286,000.

Furthermore, a Useless Coin [USELESS] whale also began accumulating FARTCOIN after establishing a $24,480 position. At the time this whale accumulated these tokens, the memecoin's market capitalization was $181.62 million.

 This behavior suggests that well-known whales have noticed the asset's rebound price action, providing further evidence for this trend.

FARTCOIN memecoin price has surged over 12% in the past 24 hours due to these capital inflows. This strength is consistent with PEPE, dogwifhat [WIF], BONK, and SPX6900 [SPX].

However, liquidity remains limited due to the continued explosive growth in the total number of tokens issued each cycle.

Approximately 37.8 million tokens have been issued since the inception of cryptocurrencies, explaining why memecoin, despite its surge, has failed to reach the heights of previous cycles. This remains a key obstacle to a recovery in the memecoin sector.
