Ripple Completes XRP Lending Protocol Re-AuditRipple has achieved a significant milestone for the forthcoming decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities on the $XRP Ledger. Leading Web3 security firm Halborn recently concluded a comprehensive re-audit of the XRPL Lending Protocol, confirming that all reported findings from earlier reviews have been addressed or strategically managed by the core engineering team.

The Lending Protocol, codified under the XLS-0066d standard, is a foundational DeFi primitive designed to enable fixed-term, uncollateralized on-chain loans utilizing pooled funds from a Single Asset Vault.

The scope of the re-audit
Between mid-December 2025 and January 2026, Halborn conducted a diff-based re-audit, focusing explicitly on the significant codebase modifications introduced since the protocol's prior summer audit.

The primary objective was to validate the security and correctness of the updated implementation against the XLS-0066d specification. Halborn’s team evaluated transaction validation logic, state consistency, parameter checks, and access controls. The security firm employed a layered analysis approach that included specification reviews, code-diff analysis, manual code inspection, and automated static analysis to evaluate the $XRP Ledger's three-stage transaction processing model.

Resolution of findings
The re-audit report categorized the identified issues, resulting in zero critical or high-severity vulnerabilities. Halborn detailed five specific findings, all of which were transparently addressed or accepted by Ripple.

Halborn identified a missing validation check that could have allowed a vault's total assets to exceed its configured maximum limit through the accumulation of loan interest. Ripple confirmed this was solved, noting that the engineering team had coincidentally caught and fixed

Ethereum Price Drops as Market Pressure Builds
Ethereum is back under pressure as $ETH trades near $1,660, falling by more than 5% in the last 24 hours. The move comes during a wider crypto market selloff, with Bitcoin, Solana, XRP, BNB and Dogecoin also trading in the red.

However, Ethereum now has an additional story weighing on sentiment: the Ethereum Foundation has reportedly cut around 20% of its workforce as part of a wider internal restructuring. For traders, this creates a difficult question. Is $ETH only falling because the entire market is weak, or is the Foundation’s shake-up adding extra pressure to Ethereum’s short-term outlook?

Ethereum Foundation Cuts 20% of Staff
The Ethereum Foundation has concluded a months-long reorganization process, cutting 54 staff members and moving into a new structure based around five major clusters. These include areas focused on the protocol layer, access layer, user layer, community layer and institutional layer.

The Foundation says the goal is to become leaner, more focused and better aligned with Ethereum’s long-term development priorities. In theory, that could be positive if it helps the organization execute faster and reduce internal complexity.

But markets rarely react calmly to staff cuts, especially when they happen during a major price correction. For $ETH holders, the concern is simple: if Ethereum is already struggling against competitors and weaker market sentiment, does a smaller Foundation make the roadmap stronger — or does it create more uncertainty?

Why This Matters for $ETH
Ethereum remains the largest smart contract blockchain, but its market position has been under pressure for months. Solana has gained attention for speed and user activity, Bitcoin continues to dominate institutional narratives, and newer chains are competing for liquidity, developers and users.

StarkWare introduces 'Private KYC' to address personal data breaches
Zero-knowledge scaling company StarkWare has introduced Private KYC on Starknet, enabling users to complete know-your-customer requirements without revealing their full personal information.

The system, announced Tuesday as a demo, uses STRK20 privacy features and zero-knowledge STARK proofs to let users prove specific attributes, such as being older than 18 or holding valid credentials, without revealing their full passport details or address.

“Whether you need to prove you’re over 18, hold a valid credential or meet an eligibility rule, verification should only confirm the precise fact,” StarkWare said. Corporations should not collect the full identity behind it, “because every identity database becomes a liability the moment it exists.”

KYC compliance involves handing over personal information and trusting companies to keep it safe. The rollout comes as the US hit a record 3,322 data compromises in 2025, a 79% increase over five years, and the global average cost of a data breach is $4.4 million, according to StationX.

StarkWare users start by scanning their passport on their phones, using the camera and NFC chip to read and confirm the document is genuine and signed by its issuing authority.

They can then encrypt identity data to their Starknet wallet, register attributes in a public onchain registry, and submit zero-knowledge proofs for selective checks. Verifiers can confirm eligibility by reading the public registry without ever seeing the actual identity data.

“Private KYC shows that verification and privacy aren’t a trade-off,” StarkWare said. “An institution can confirm exactly what it needs without assembling another copy of someone’s identity it then has to defend.”

Bitcoin ETF trends have been receiving more attention recently following the withdrawal of record amounts from the Bitcoin ETF funds in the United States without any significant decline in investor participation. According to the most recent market figures, even though there has been a fast exit of institutional money from the Bitcoin ETFs, the overall investor base remains unchanged. This peculiar situation of outflows and unchanged investor base indicates a consolidating market.

Historic ETF Redemptions Seen

Market reports show that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen a total of about $6.35 billion in net outflows during the current rolling 30-day period. It marks the biggest withdrawal period out of 582 periods monitored by market experts.

As noted in the market update by crypto analyst Blockchain, using data by Galaxy Research, the extent of capital flowing out of Bitcoin ETFs was stressed. While historic outflows have been observed in 2024 and 2025, none could match the current extent of ETF redemptions.

A graph of the data showed cumulative ETF flows against the performance of the Bitcoin market. The green bars indicated inflow periods, while the red bars pointed to outflow periods. This latest reading marked the biggest ETF redemption period since the start of spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Price of Bitcoin Is Showing Resilience

Despite the large outflows, Bitcoin has exhibited resilience in the market. In past market cycles, such outflows have been associated with considerable bearish pressure on prices. But currently, there has been a different development.

Bitcoin continues trading at a high level despite the outflow of institutional capital from the ETFs. The surge that took Bitcoin above the $100,000 mark was primarily fueled by ETF inflows, but despite ETF outflows, the gains made during that period have persisted.

Zcash miner Fortitude grabs Nasdaq route through HeartSciences dealZcash miner Fortitude Mining Holdings has secured a path to the public markets through an all-stock merger with HeartSciences, a transaction that will place the crypto mining company on the Nasdaq without a traditional IPO.

According to a joint announcement released Tuesday, Fortitude and HeartSciences have agreed to combine in a deal that will leave Fortitude’s management team in control of the merged company. The business is expected to operate under the Fortitude name and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol TUDE, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the terms of the transaction, existing HeartSciences shareholders will retain a minority ownership stake. HeartSciences, which develops AI-powered cardiac diagnostic technologies, will continue operating under the leadership of chief executive Andrew Simpson.

Explaining the decision, Simpson said the merger would help remove what he described as the “constant cycle of raising capital” while offering what the company believes is the most favorable outcome for shareholders.

Although the two companies operate in unrelated industries, the structure effectively gives Fortitude access to public equity markets through an already listed Nasdaq company.

For HeartSciences, the agreement provides continued exposure to a publicly traded entity while allowing its healthcare operations to remain active.

Fortitude gains public listing without an IPO
Rather than pursuing a conventional stock market debut, Fortitude is following a route that several crypto firms have previously used to reach public investors. According to the companies, the transaction is structured as a merger that will result in Fortitude taking over the public listing.
