Bitcoin Depot (BTM) Stock Falls 80% As Company Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Bitcoin Depot (NASDAQ: BTM), once the largest Bitcoin ATM operator in North America, filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. The Atlanta-based fintech company said it intends to wind down all operations and pursue a sale of its assets marking one of the most visible collapses in the retail cryptocurrency sector to date.

The company's stock cratered on the news, falling from $3 to around $0.75 on the news.

As part of the filing, Bitcoin Depot took its entire network of Bitcoin ATM kiosks offline.

China confirmed its involvement in the operation that resulted in the arrest of 276 suspects and the closure of nine crime-focused facilities. The initiative might mark a new era of international cooperation to tackle and end pig-butchering scams.

The operation, which took place in Dubai, dismantled nine centers dedicated to these activities en masse, targeting victims online by first gaining their trust, luring them into romantic relationships, and then asking them to invest in alleged high-return cryptocurrency schemes, stealing their funds in the process and disappearing shortly after.

An official of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security qualified China’s collaboration as “a major achievement in Chinese police efforts to advance international law enforcement cooperation,” hinting at upcoming collaborations to achieve the same end.

During the raids, 276 suspects who operated in these dens were arrested.

Strategy buys another $2bn in Bitcoin despite mNAV pressure

Strategy Inc. purchased another 24,869 Bitcoin, worth roughly $2.01 billion, last week. This signals that the company remains firmly committed to its aggressive accumulation strategy despite growing scrutiny over compressed mNAV multiples and balance-sheet sustainability.

In a new Form 8-K filing released on 18 May, Strategy disclosed that the purchases were made between 11 May and 17 May at an average price of approximately $80,985 per Bitcoin.

The acquisition pushes Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to:

843,738 BTC

acquired for approximately $63.87 billion

at an average purchase price of roughly $75,700 per BTC.

That further strengthens the company’s position as the world’s largest public corporate Bitcoin holder.
