Gold prices have fallen nearly 4% in a week despite the conflict in Iran and Israel escalating. The XAU/USD index has cooled down in March, while leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin have spiked 10%. The safe haven nature of the precious metal is jittery as traders are now taking calculated steps.However, the price grind for gold is only temporary, wrote UBS in a note to clients. The investment bank noted that prices are materializing and could see another sharp spike, similar to the rise of energy stocks. For the uninitiated, energy stocks have been on the rise after the war and are now among the top-performing equities.The overall US energy sector has surged by nearly 22% year-to-date, making it a prime investment due to its pivot and support towards the AI industry. A court in Argentina has ordered a nationwide block of major crypto-based prediction market platform Polymarket over unauthorized gambling.

Argentina’s national communications and media regulator, Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM), received a court order to block access to Polymarket website and its variants across the country, according to a ruling dated March 11.

The order was issued by the Buenos Aires Court of First Instance in Criminal, Contravention and Minor Offenses No. 31, which is investigating Polymarket under Argentina’s Criminal Code for allegedly offering gambling services without authorization.

The judge asked ENACOM to carry out the measure either directly or through internet service providers (ISPs) and to promptly inform the court or the specialized gambling prosecutor’s office if technical or other obstacles prevent full compliance.

Buenos Aires regulator initiated the case
According to local media reports, the case was brought by the Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA), the state-owned company that regulates gambling activities in the city.

After receiving a complaint from LOTBA about Polymarket’s alleged operation without authorization, prosecutor Juan Rozas, in charge of the City’s Specialized Gaming Prosecutor’s Office (FEJA), opened the investigation that led to the court order.

Authorities argued that Polymarket allowed users to place bets without sufficient identity and age verification, raising concerns that minors could access the platform.

“In practice, this meant that anyone — including children and adolescents — could access and start betting without any control,” the authorities reportedly said.

Inflation bets deepen scrutiny
In addition to instructing ENACOM to block access to Polymarket, the court reportedly ordered Google and Apple to remove and restrict the platform’s mobile applications on Android and iOS throughout Argentina, including for existing users.

Tokenized Asset Boom On The Ethereum Network
Tokenized assets are becoming the order of the day in the ever-evolving blockchain sector, with the Ethereum network turning up at the center of the development. As the market for tokenized assets keeps growing, Ethereum has remained the top blockchain network driving this quickly expanding industry.

Leon Waidmann, a market expert and head of research at Lisk, shared this development on X, which suggests that the leading network is witnessing a strong wave of demand and interest. Developers and institutions are rapidly using ETH’s well-established infrastructure and substantial liquidity for everything from tokenized real-world assets to blockchain-based financial instruments.

Looking at the chart, the Ethereum mainnet is clearly dominating the tokenized assets market, controlling more than 61% of the entire market share. The chart shows that the current value of tokenized assets settling on the ETH Layer 1 blockchain has reached approximately $200 billion.

After falling to about 50% during the multi-chain expansion phase, Ethereum’s share has been increasing since the middle of 2024. This dominance is a result of both the network’s strong ecosystem of decentralized apps and its early-mover advantage.

Offering insights into why the tokenized market is climbing again, the expert claims that this is because when institutions tokenize real value, they often pick the chain with the deepest liquidity. Other things they look out for are the strongest security guarantees and the most battle-tested infrastructure, especially in a bear market.

Ex Ripple CTO Reveals Real Impact Of Burning XRP
David Schwartz, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ripple, has taken to X to share new details about XRP burning and its direct influence on price. Notably, Schwartz’s statements come in response to the recent backlash and criticism stemming from Ripple’s latest $750 million share buyback.

In a post on March 12, a pseudonymous XRP community member known as ‘XRP Launch’ on X tagged several of Ripple’s top executives, including Schwartz, CEO Brad Garlinghouse, President Monica Long, and CLO Stuart Alderoty. The user questioned the company’s recent share buyback, asking why Ripple would prioritize this approach over initiatives that directly benefit XRP holders.

He urged the executives to consider burning the XRP currently held in escrow rather than pursuing share buybacks that primarily benefit Ripple as a company. In a sarcastic remark, he added that perhaps the escrow cannot be burned, as doing so might push XRP’s price beyond $1.39.

Responding to the remarks, Schwartz shared a price chart illustrating the historical performance of both XRP and Stellar (XLM). The chart highlights volatility in both assets, with notable price spikes in some months and relatively subdued action in others. The former Ripple CTO then challenged the XRP member to identify where, on the chart, XLM had burned half of its total supply.
