Interestingly, another geopolitical event has occurred in which the US Supreme Court has struck down the legality of trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump under IEEPA. In a QuickTake post on CryptoQuant, XWIN Research Japan highlights the potential implications of this development for the crypto market.

Tariff Impact On Crypto Assets Hinges On Implementation

On February 20, the US Supreme Court declared that the majority of the new tariffs imposed by Trump over the last year are illegal. The nation’s apex court clarified that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorize the President to impose tariffs; these taxes are being revoked, potentially those under Sections 232 and 301.

According to XWIN Research Japan, the crypto market has barely reacted to this development. This is an important observation as digital assets experienced significant losses in reaction to these tariff announcements during 2025, most notably on October 10. However, the analysts explain that any impact on crypto prices relies on liquidity, which further hinges on the legal processes and political implementation of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Notably, total tariff refunds from the US government are estimated between $40 billion and $170 billion. If the refunds proceed as instructed, liquidity will move from the US Treasury Account to the private business. This scenario is expected to improve companies’ cash flow and encourage investment and risk allocation.

The global asset manager BlackRock, which oversees nearly $14 trillion, has filed for a new iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF, aiming to combine Bitcoin exposure with steady returns.

BlackRock is once again expanding its Bitcoin strategy, this time with a product aimed at income-focused investors.

How the Bitcoin Premium Income ETF Works

According to the newly filed S-1 document, the ETF will hold Bitcoin directly, shares of BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF IBIT, and cash. What makes this product different is its income strategy.

Instead of relying only on Bitcoin’s price movement, the fund plans to sell covered call options, mainly on IBIT shares. This approach is designed to generate option premiums that could be paid out as monthly income.

This strategy targets investors who want Bitcoin exposure but are also looking for steady returns during periods of high volatility.

This will allow the fund to earn option premiums, which could deliver 8% to 12% in annual income, similar to income strategies used in equity markets. Eventually, these returns would come from option premiums, not from Bitcoin price increases.

Dogecoin broke out of a downtrend after a 24% correction earlier this month. After peaking at $0.155 on the 6th of January, the price failed to hold those levels and retraced.

Even so, the pullback did not erase January’s gains, following a 35.59% surge. The MACD remained in negative territory but showed early recovery signs as the MACD line approached the signal line.

That setup left traders focused on key reclaim levels.

A daily close above $0.128 could have shifted short-term control back to the bulls. Holding above $0.12 remained critical to preserving upside structure.

Dogecoin ETF inflows stayed muted
Dogecoin-linked exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw limited investor interest, with just $6.41 million in Cumulative Net Inflows despite a $20.6 billion market cap.

On the 27th of January 27, the ETFs registered $246K in inflows, bringing the total for January to $4.07 million, surpassing the combined inflows of November and December 2025.

Even so, flows remained modest, leaving uncertainty around whether institutional demand meaningfully shifted.

Liquidity clusters moved overhead
Dogecoin [DOGE] had nearly cleared all downside liquidity, with clusters forming above $0.129, showing strong potential for an upward move. Traders were watching closely for any signs of liquidity hunting, which could trigger a short squeeze.

If price cleared the $0.129–$0.132 range, short positions could have faced forced covering. That scenario might have accelerated upside momentum if follow-through buying appeared.

That move aligned with traders closely monitoring liquidity behavior rather than spot volume expansion.
