The majority of the loss came from a $616.2 million unrealized paper loss on the company’s holdings of 868,699 ETH. An additional $140.2 million impairment charge was linked to converting staked Ether.

Ethereum experienced significant volatility during the second half of 2025. After reaching a high of $4,829 in August, the market crash in October pushed the price down to around $3,000 by the end of the year.

Despite the losses, Sharplink stated that it plans to continue accumulating Ether as part of its long-term treasury strategy.

The company, chaired by Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, shifted from sports betting marketing to a digital asset treasury model in June 2025 and aims to steadily increase its ETH-per-share ratio for long-term shareholder value.
