BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, has processed more than $5 billion in conversions from direct Bitcoin holdings, according to a Bloomberg report. This marks a sharp increase from the $3 billion recorded in October last year, signaling a growing trend among investors to move digital assets into regulated exchange-traded products.The shift reflects several converging factors. Asset managers have significantly lowered minimum thresholds for spot conversions, making it easier for smaller holders to participate. Additionally, investors are increasingly drawn to the reduced risks associated with self-custody, including hacking threats and the permanent loss of private keys. For some, converting Bitcoin into an ETF also offers potential capital gains tax advantages, depending on their jurisdiction and specific circumstances.

Bloomberg’s analysis highlights that Bitwise’s BITB has seen a similar trend, while Morgan Stanley’s MSBT has attracted approximately 5% to 7% of its total assets under management through spot Bitcoin conversions. These developments indicate a broader institutional and retail acceptance of ETFs as a secure and convenient vehicle for Bitcoin exposure.

The movement of Bitcoin from personal wallets and exchanges into ETFs represents a significant structural change in how digital assets are held. For the market, it suggests a maturation of the asset class, with investors prioritizing regulatory oversight and custodial security over the ideological appeal of self-custody. For individual investors, the trend underscores the importance of weighing the benefits of convenience and security against the loss of direct control over their assets.

“$RLUSD crossed $2B in market cap last week, with close to $1B issued on the $XRP Ledger. Live since December 2024, built for real-world utility and designed for enterprise use cases. “

Each $RLUSD token is designed to maintain a value of $1 through reserves containing cash and permitted cash equivalents. Ripple’s $RLUSD documentation states that reserves are held in segregated accounts and include short-term U.S. Treasury bills, government money market funds, overnight reverse repurchase agreements, and bank deposits. Deloitte conducts monthly reserve attestations, according to Ripple.

RWA.xyz data placed $RLUSD’s market cap at approximately $2.02 billion, up 31.45% over 30 days, with about $962.8 million issued on the $XRP Ledger and $1.05 billion on Ethereum. The same dataset recorded $11.81 billion in $RLUSD transfers over the preceding 30 days, spread across 1.39 million transactions.

The two networks now carry nearly equal shares of $RLUSD supply, with less than $90 million separating them. Ripple issues the stablecoin natively on each chain rather than bridging a single pool, so the two balances account for nearly all of the $2.02 billion total.

The stablecoin’s current valuation represents an eightfold increase from its level during the first four months after launch. In April 2025, Ripple reported that $RLUSD was approaching $250 million in market capitalization.
