Strategy’s latest Bitcoin [BTC] purchase brings supply tightening back into focus, as corporate accumulation continues to reshape market structure.

The firm bought 34,164 BTC for $2.54 billion, which makes it its third-largest weekly purchase on record.

That comparison matters because the only larger weekly buys came in November 2024, when Strategy acquired 55,500 and 51,780 BTC for $5.4 billion and $4.6 billion, respectively.

This places the current move in a clearer context, showing that large-scale accumulation has returned at a meaningful pace.

Bitcoin’s market now reflects a clear imbalance, where strong corporate buying supports price, yet broader demand fails to follow through.

As large buyers continue absorbing supply, momentum does not build, which shifts pressure onto the demand side.

ETF flows show this inconsistency clearly. Inflows moved from $471 million on the 6th of April to –$159 million on the 7th of April, then reversed again, showing demand enters but does not persist.

As this pattern continues, capital flows in bursts rather than building sustained pressure.

This behavior reflects weaker retail and organic participation, while institutional demand remains cautious. As a result, price holds steady but struggles to break higher.

This implies Bitcoin stays supported, yet without consistent demand, the market remains range-bound and delays stronger upside movement.

His comment highlights a growing reality in modern financial markets: sentiment is extremely sensitive to fast-moving information. In today’s environment, political statements, policy signals, and even social media posts can trigger immediate and sometimes sharp market reactions.
This is not just theoretical. Last week, markets reacted to a statement linked to Donald Trump regarding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz (which has not been confirmed by Iranian authorities). The remark briefly lifted equities while pushing oil prices lower, underscoring how quickly narratives can influence global asset prices.
However, Goldman Sachs spokesperson Tony Fratto later clarified that Solomon’s comment was meant in a humorous context, stating: “Anyone who watched the interview could clearly see that David was obviously joking.”
Still, the broader message remains relevant: in an era dominated by real-time information flow, markets are increasingly driven by headlines, tweets, and perception shifts — sometimes as much as by fundamentals.

Buried in Bitmine Immersion Technologies’ latest disclosure is a number that speaks to just how deep the company has gone on Ethereum.

Of the nearly 5 million ETH it now holds, 3.33 million is actively staked through its validator platform, generating more than $200 million in annualized staking revenue.

For a company built around accumulating a single digital asset, that income stream turns what might look like a speculative bet into something closer to an operating business.

The purchase that pushed those numbers higher came during the week of April 13 to April 19. Bitmine acquired 101,627 ETH in that period, its largest single-week buy since December 2025.

The transaction was disclosed Monday through a press release and a Form 8-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Closing In On Target
Following the purchase, Bitmine held 4,976,485 ETH — valued at roughly $11.5 billion based on a reference price of $2,301 per toke`n. That puts the company’s ownership at about 4.12% of total Ether in circulation.

Its stated target is 5%, a goal the company refers to internally as the “alchemy of 5%.” At the current pace, it is around 80% of the way there.

Chairman Tom Lee said the company has kept up an increased buying pace for four straight weeks. “Our base case ETH is in the final stages of the mini-crypto winter,” he said. Lee made similar remarks at Paris Blockchain Week 2026, where he predicted Ether could eventually top $60,000.

Beyond its ETH position, Bitmine also holds 199 Bitcoin, a $200 million stake in Beast Industries, a $107 million stake in Eightco Holdings, and $1.12 billion in cash. Total crypto and cash holdings stand at close to $13 billion.

Arbitrum freezes $71 million worth of ETH stolen in Kelp DAO exploit

The Arbitrum Security Council has frozen 30,766 ETH held in an address on Arbitrum One linked to the Kelp DAO exploit.

Arbitrum said the frozen funds will only be moved by further action through Arbitrum governance.
The Arbitrum Security Council has frozen 30,766 ETH, worth about $71.1 million, held in an address on Arbitrum One linked to the $292 million Kelp DAO exploit over the weekend.

In a Tuesday post on X, Arbitrum said the security council has moved the funds to an intermediary frozen wallet, adding that the action did not affect other chain state and Arbitrum users.

The funds will remain frozen unless further action is approved through Arbitrum governance, the team said.

"The Security Council acted with input from law enforcement as to the exploiter's identity, and, at all times, weighed its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any Arbitrum users or applications," said the statement. The Block reached out to Arbitrum for further information.

The move follows a major exploit on Saturday involving Kelp DAO, a LayerZero-powered cross-chain bridge, which resulted in the loss of 116,500 rsETH tokens worth roughly $292 million.

Preliminary findings from LayerZero suggested that the attack was likely linked to North Korean hacking group Lazarus.
LayerZero has also criticized Kelp DAO's use of a 1-of-1 decentralized verified network (DVN) configuration, arguing that it introduced a single point of failure by lacking independent verification to detect a fraudulent cross-chain message. 

Kelp DAO pushed back on the statement, saying that the 1-of-1 DVN setup was shipped as the default configuration at LayerZero.
