He described the pattern as occurring multiple times in recent market activity since February, and continuing this month. In eight instances, XRP’s price dipped just after the U.S. market opened.

To him, the frequency indicates systematic price control rather than organic trading behavior. He questioned whether this could represent what he called a “new Jane Street playbook.”

The commentator also highlighted a disconnect between XRP’s price performance and recent developments surrounding Ripple.

Despite major announcements involving Ripple, including billion-dollar acquisitions and continued inflows via ETFs, Arthur noted that XRP remains roughly 44% below its recent highs. Each attempted breakout faces strong selling pressure.

Community Disagrees on Manipulation Claims

However, not everyone in the discussion agreed with the manipulation theory. Another market participant, Robert W, responded that the pattern may simply reflect normal market dynamics rather than coordinated trading activity.

He argued that similar price movements can often occur across multiple assets when liquidity from the United States enters the market.

In his view, the repeated price drops are more likely explained by profit-taking and liquidity shifts rather than a coordinated strategy by institutional trading firms.

The Court ruled 6-3 that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize the President to impose tariffs, invalidating a program that collected at least $133.5 billion through Dec. 14, 2025, with Penn-Wharton Budget Model estimates suggesting total receipts reached approximately $179 billion by the ruling date.

Markets reacted immediately: stocks jumped, the dollar weakened, and Treasury yields edged higher as traders began pricing what could become one of the largest unplanned fiscal transfers in recent memory.

The refund question now sits in legal limbo. The Court declined to address how refunds should work, punting that issue back to the Court of International Trade.

More than 1,000 lawsuits have already been filed seeking refunds, and importers generally have two years under US trade law to sue for recovery.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters that Treasury held roughly $774 billion in cash and projected an $850 billion balance by the end of March, noting any refunds would likely be paid over weeks to months, possibly extending to a year.

That timeline matters because the mechanism through which refunds flow back determines whether this becomes a measurable liquidity event or a drawn-out administrative process.

For years, that structure has supplied a steady, if opaque, bid for risk assets.

Analysts at Bitunix told CryptoSlate that this equation would be changing due to the current market conditions.

The daily chart tells the scale of both the damage and the recovery. $TRUMP bottomed near $2.68 at the lower Bollinger Band earlier this week after months of grinding lower inside a descending channel defined by a falling resistance trendline from the October 2025 highs. Yesterday’s spike broke price above the BB midline at $3.94, the 20-day EMA at $3.35, the 50-day at $3.71, and the 100-day at $4.45 in a single session.

At press time, the upper Bollinger Band at $3.94 has flipped from resistance to support. Above that sits the 100-day EMA and the 200-day EMA at $5.94, which has capped every recovery attempt since 2025. A close above it would be the first genuine structural break in months.

$XRP burns tokens systematically, unlike massive burns carried out at once or at periodic times. Transaction fees are systematically burned on $XRP Ledger, reducing the total supply of 100 billion $XRP.

Since $XRP Ledger’s inception, about 14,303,916 $XRP, according to XRPScan data, has been burned. This low burn rate might be attributed to the relatively low transaction fees on the network.

In a response to an X user who speculated that a large burn in the case of $XRP might boost its price, Ripple CTO Emeritus explained the potential impact using an $XLM analogy. In November 2019, Stellar ($XLM) burned 50% of its total supply, which had an indirect impact as its price briefly rose in the aftermath.

As expected, Schwartz's observation came forward as a blunt truth, which did not sit well with some members of the crypto community.

In a tongue-in-cheek response, an X user claimed Ripple USD (RLUSD), real-world assets (RWAs) and bridging with $XRP provide no real price benefit to $XRP.

Tech investor and former Coinbase chief technology officer Balaji Srinivasan has called on the crypto industry to develop more financial tools for refugees and stateless people.

In a Saturday post on X, Srinivasan said the number of displaced individuals could grow as global conflicts intensify and economic migration increases. He pointed to examples ranging from Ukrainians fleeing war to workers leaving the Gulf countries amid regional tensions.

“We should build more crypto tools for refugees and stateless people,” Srinivasan wrote, suggesting that blockchain-based systems can provide financial infrastructure when traditional institutions fail or become inaccessible.

Srinivasan described crypto as “wartime mode for the internet,” arguing that decentralized networks were designed to operate even under hostile conditions such as cyberattacks, infrastructure failures or financial restrictions. He said that public blockchains can continue processing transactions even if centralized systems face disruptions.

Crypto rarely builds for refugees despite clear need

His comments came in response to a separate post from Andi Duro, founder of research site TwoCents, who argued that while crypto could serve refugees effectively, the industry rarely builds products specifically for them.

“It’s very unfortunate that crypto is a great solution for refugees who are stateless and forced to interact with crumbling institutions and payment rails,” Andi wrote. “But nobody in crypto builds for refugees because they’re not useful consumers for gambling.”
