For example, insufficient information about the asset class is still cited by respondents as the main reason why people do not own crypto assets, while the second most popular reason is that they consider it a bad investment.

However, the reasons for owning “crypto” don’t demonstrate a great understanding of this asset class and technology either. This is also corroborated by other findings of the research. The authors of the paper randomly showed people information about $BTC’s previous 12-month return, which increased their desired bitcoin allocation by ~47%, while also increasing their expected returns by a few percentage points. Meaning, their willingness to invest in bitcoin was fueled not necessarily by an understanding of what they’re investing in, but more by the past performance of $BTC.

Cosmos EVM chains told to halt after security incidentCosmos Labs urged affected Cosmos EVM chains to request validator halts on Aug. 25 as its security and engineering teams responded to an incident that had already reached multiple networks.

The company did not identify the underlying vulnerability, affected chains or total losses in its initial statement. It said users of the Cosmos EVM module had been affected and promised an incident report after the situation was resolved.

Separate disclosures from MANTRA, TAC and KiiChain connect recent attacks to the Cosmos EVM software stack. However, Cosmos Labs has not publicly confirmed that these incidents share one exact vulnerability or named every chain asked to stop.

NUVA has selected Chainlink to provide data infrastructure for its decentralized finance operations. The move was reported separately by CryptoBriefing, Coinfomania and CoinGape on August 24, 2026.

Coinfomania described the arrangement as an exclusive data selection involving Animoca Brands, the Web3 investment and gaming firm known for backing blockchain projects across gaming, metaverse and digital asset infrastructure. CoinGape framed the same development in the context of the tokenized real-world asset sector, which it valued at roughly $19 billion.

Chainlink is widely used across DeFi as an oracle network. Oracles feed external, real-world data onto blockchains, letting smart contracts execute based on accurate pricing, market conditions or asset valuations. Without reliable data feeds, DeFi protocols cannot safely price collateral, settle trades or manage risk. This makes data infrastructure a foundational layer for any platform handling tokenized assets.

The tokenized real-world asset market has grown as institutions and crypto-native firms work to bring traditional financial instruments onto blockchain rails. Real estate, bonds, commodities and other assets are increasingly represented as digital tokens. Accurate, tamper-resistant data becomes more important as the value of tokenized assets scales, since pricing errors or manipulation could affect settlement and collateral management.

CME Group has expanded its cryptocurrency benchmark suite to include ENA, the native token of the Ethena protocol. The addition places ENA among a growing list of digital assets that receive standardized reference pricing from the exchange operator.

According to reporting from CryptoBriefing, the new benchmark falls under CME's existing single-asset crypto reference rate framework. This framework is designed to give institutional participants a consistent, auditable price point for individual tokens. CoinGape reported that the rates are calculated across three major trading windows: London, New York and the Asia-Pacific region.

CME's reference rates aggregate pricing data from multiple spot markets to produce a benchmark figure at set times during each regional session. They are distinct from tradable futures or options products, though benchmarks of this kind often precede the listing of derivatives tied to the same asset.

Ethena has built its protocol around a synthetic dollar product designed to generate yield through derivatives-based hedging strategies.
