The research indicates that XRP functions as a crucial bridge asset in Ripple Payments (formerly RippleNet), enabling rapid and cost-effective international money transfers. XRP helps mitigate double-spending risks and reduces the delays inherent in traditional payment systems.

Leading financial institutions like Bank of America and Santander are connected to Ripple's network, underscoring the complexity of any potential shift away from XRP. In September 2024, the Federal Reserve officially began cutting interest rates. At that time, the median in the dot plot drew a clear line: 3.4% by the end of 2025, followed by four more cuts.

Six quarters have passed. Last night's March SEP (Secondary Policy Index) tells us that this line has completely distorted.

The Fed kept interest rates unchanged at 3.50%-3.75%, which was not unexpected by the market. However, what happened within the dot plot is more worthy of analysis than the interest rate decision itself. Of the 19 members, 7 believed that rates should not be cut this year, and 7 believed that one cut was necessary. A perfect 50/50 split. The median remained unchanged, but the consensus collapsed.

We will use the following three charts to briefly understand how the Fed has gradually revised its expectations to reflect reality, the extent of internal disagreement, and why their inflation forecasts are likely to be underestimated again.

 The Collapse of Rate Cut Expectations

According to official Federal Reserve SEP data, when rate cuts began in September 2024, the median dot plot projection for the end of 2025 was 3.4%, implying four more rate cuts on top of the then-current 4.75%-5.00%.

Three months later, in December, this figure jumped to 3.9%, leaving only two more rate cuts. After four SEP updates in March, June, September, and December of 2025, the year-end projection never returned to 3.4%. The actual year-end interest rate in 2025 fell within the 3.50%-3.75% range, a full 25 basis points higher than the initial projection.

The projection for 2026 followed the same path. In September 2024, the Federal Reserve projected that interest rates would fall to 2.9% by the end of 2026.  By last night's March SEP (Several Essential Rates Per Second), the figure remained stable at 3.4%, 50 basis points higher than initially expected.

Bitcoin's $BTC$70,565.84 biggest early holders, often called original gangsters, are hitting the sell button after the Federal Reserve rattled expectations for lower borrowing costs.

Blockchain data tracked by Lookonchain shows at least two long-term holders together dumped over 1,650 $BTC worth more than $117.87 million early Thursday.

One veteran whale who previously sold an 11,000‑$BTC stack, added another 650 $BTC to his dump, while a separate early‑adopter OG with a 5,000‑$BTC stash offloaded a full 1,000 $BTC.

Bitcoin's price dipped nearly 1% to $70,600 soon before press time, extending Wednesday's 3.5% slide from $74,500, according to CoinDesk data. The broader market wilted, with the CoinDesk 20 Index 3% to 2,056 points. Ether (ETH), $XRP ($XRP), solana (SOL), and DOGE$0.09454 suffered similar losses.

The decline followed a hawkish Fed rate decision on Wednesday, when the central bank left the benchmark borrowing cost unchanged in the 3.5%–3.75% range but signaled a slower pace of rate cuts ahead, disappointing risk‑asset bulls.

The hawkish tone came through the so‑called interest‑rate "dot plot," which shows where the Fed's voting members expect interest rates to land in the months ahead. The median projection indicated only one rate cut this year, despite recent labour-market weakness. Moreover, only two committee members remained in the two‑cut camp, and Chair Powell's own personal projection moved higher.

"The higher for longer narrative has been reinvigorated by sticky inflation and the inflationary shadow cast by rising energy costs, forcing investors to abandon their dreams of a rapid easing cycle," Matt Mena, crypto research strategist at 21shares, said in an email.

Taken together, these developments pointed to a central bank still wary of inflation and this has led to a sharp repricing of bets on Fed rate cuts. Trading on the
