“Coruna” iPhone Hack Could Empty Crypto Wallets, Google Warns

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group warns “Coruna” targets older iPhones and can steal recovery phrases to drain crypto wallets before funds move.

It chains five exploit paths and 23 flaws across iOS 13 to 17.2.1; malicious sites fingerprint devices via hidden JavaScript, then install spyware quietly.

Controls are straightforward: update to the latest iOS, enable Lockdown Mode, use private browsing, avoid unknown crypto sites, and keep phrases offline.

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group is warning crypto users about “Coruna,” a sophisticated exploit kit that targets older iPhones and can steal wallet recovery phrases. Researchers say it aggressively scans devices running outdated Apple software and, once it finds a vulnerable target, can extract the sensitive data needed to restore wallets elsewhere. For anyone holding Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other assets on mobile, a single iOS lapse can become a full wallet loss. New Details Emerge Regarding the Regulation of Cryptocurrencies in Turkey

Dr. Ömer İleri, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party and Head of Information and Communication Technologies, made statements regarding the ongoing legal regulatory efforts concerning crypto assets.

İleri stated that it is a natural process for efforts to establish a legal framework for crypto assets and similar emerging fields to come to the public’s attention.

İleri, in his assessment of the issue, stated, “It is a natural and correct process for legal regulations to be developed regarding crypto assets and similar newly emerging fields, and for these studies to be brought to the public’s attention in various aspects. We, both as a party and as a government, always closely follow the opinions and sensitivities that come to the agenda.”

Stating that Turkey’s goal of being a pioneer in new technology fields continues, İleri noted that the work in these areas will continue within the scope of the “Turkey Century” vision led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying, “Under the leadership of our President, our ambition to be a pioneer in newly developing technology fields in line with the ‘Türkiye Century’ vision will continue.”

In a previous statement, İleri had shared details of the draft law on the taxation of crypto assets being discussed in the Planning and Budget Committee. According to this, a transaction tax of three per ten thousand is planned to be levied on the purchase, sale, and transfer of crypto assets conducted through platforms regulated by the Capital Markets Board (SPK).

It was stated that this tax would be the final tax and that no additional taxes would be applied, and that cryptocurrency transactions would also be exempt from Value Added Tax (VAT).

Cardano (ADA) Foundation CEO Makes Optimistic Predictions About ADA’s Future

Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard spoke at a Spaces broadcast today about the Cardano blockchain ecosystem.

The broadcast focused on Cardano’s current developments, interoperability (IBC), real-world integrations, and future plans.

One of the highlights of the broadcast was Gregaard’s sharing of information about the Cardano Foundation’s recent work. Emphasizing the foundation’s alignment with Input Output Global (IOG), Gregaard stated, “We are taking Pentad to a whole new level. Many teams with different roles, visions, and opportunities are working closely together. There is complete alignment between IOG and the Cardano Foundation regarding the pace of the 70 million $ADA distribution.”

Gregaard spoke about the integration of the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol into the Cardano ecosystem. He mentioned that an IBC hackathon is planned for the Builder Fest event in 2026, and that he and Julius will be organizing presentations and practical sessions.

During the broadcast, the possibility of paying with $ADA in SPAR supermarkets in Switzerland was discussed. One participant asked, “What are the fees when paying with $ADA in Swiss supermarkets? Are there any?” Gregaard stated that $ADA payments have been activated in 137 stores in collaboration with Open Crypto Pay and the Swiss fintech company Utrust, providing users with convenience through real-time on-chain settlement and low transaction fees.

The market status of Cardano’s native token, $ADA, was also discussed. Gregaard claimed that Cardano has strong fundamentals and painted a positive outlook for 2026: “With the Plomin upgrade, the Midnight mainnet, and potential $ADA spot ETFs, the ecosystem will grow.” He added that Bloomberg considers the probability of $ADA ETF approval to be 70%.
