A separate U.S.-brokered, ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon further fueled hopes for broader regional stability, though ongoing U.S. sanctions on Iran and restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz kept market sentiment in check.The yen remained under pressure after BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda delivered broadly dovish remarks at a press conference, sidestepping any firm commitment to hiking rates in April. Despite acknowledging Japan's low real interest rates and healthy corporate earnings, his tone disappointed investors who had hoped for stronger action to combat inflation driven by energy market disruptions. Analysts at OCBC warned that a failure to hike could push the USD/JPY pair above 160, potentially triggering intervention by Japan's Ministry of Finance.Elsewhere across Asia, the Australian dollar outperformed regional peers, rising over one percent for the week as traders increased bets on further Reserve Bank of Australia rate hikes. SEC Has Issued a New Official Green Light for Cryptocurrencies

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has formally approved a rule change proposal submitted by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that aims to create a new trading mechanism for “tokenized securities.”

The proposal, outlined in document number 34-105260, is considered a critical step towards integrating traditional finance with blockchain technology.

According to the proposal, the NYSE plans to introduce a new regulation called “Rule 7.50,” allowing eligible securities to be traded in both traditional and blockchain-based “tokenized” forms. This structure will be implemented within the scope of the DTC pilot program under the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).

In the new system, tokenized securities will share the same trading code (CUSIP) and ownership structure as traditional shares. This will ensure full fungibility between the two forms. Furthermore, on the matching engine side, tokenized assets will be subject to the same priority rules as traditional shares and will not experience any disadvantage in trading order.

Market participants can choose to have transactions executed on the blockchain via a “tokenization flag” that they can use when placing orders. Technical and operational processes will be handled by authorized custodians.

NYSE’s proposal isn’t limited to the trading side alone. The exchange is also making changes to order queuing, routing, and clearing rules, aiming to seamlessly integrate tokenized securities into its existing market infrastructure.

An unidentified crypto trader has transformed a modest bet on Asteroid Shiba (ASTEROID) into a substantial gain after enduring more than a year of losses.

In the fast-paced cryptocurrency market, where participants often pursue quick profits, the activity of wallet ‘0x2aff’ presents a stark contrast.

According to Lookonchain, the trader made a high-risk move in late 2024 by accumulating billions of ASTEROID tokens. Although the position initially deteriorated, it has since surged sharply following an extended holding period.

Key Points

An unidentified trader transformed a $31,000 ASTEROID investment into over $300,000 after enduring a prolonged drawdown.

The trader initially deployed 12 Ethereum to acquire 4.61 billion ASTEROID tokens in September 2024.

The position stayed underwater for more than 570 days before rebounding to approximately $301,939.

Despite the sharp recovery, the trader has not sold, raising questions about whether they are aware of the surge.
