Scott Bessent urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act quickly


Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent used a Wall Street Journal op-ed to press Congress to pass the Clarity Act, saying the United States cannot keep dragging its feet while the crypto market keeps getting bigger.

Scott warned Congress that this position is not guaranteed to last. “Over the past year, the global market capitalization of digital assets fluctuated between $2 trillion and $3 trillion. Nearly 1 in 6 Americans owns some form of digital asset. Major financial institutions have launched or sought approval for crypto-related products,” said Scott.

Bessent says Congress must end the confusion around crypto rules

Scott said the government has made one major step already; the Genius Act which Trump signed last year.

Still, he said the general crypto market remains stuck in a legal gray area. Outside stablecoins, Scott said there is still no clear framework for crypto markets in the United States.

Then he took a jab at the Biden administration’s SEC, which was led by crypto public enemy #1, Gary Gensler, who Scott said made overlapping and sometimes conflicting claims.

That left developers, exchanges, and investors without solid guidance on what rules applied, who had authority, and how companies were supposed to operate.

Scott said all of that uncertainty was what led to a huge share of crypto development going overseas, like Abu Dhabi and Singapore, which offered clearer rules, helping companies know how to register, what standards they had to meet, and what path they needed to follow to stay compliant. In the United States, he said, the legal risk often outweighed the benefit of staying.

In a post on X, Scott had also said, “Senate time is precious, and now is the time to act.”

Justin Sun’s frozen WLFI takes $11 million hit as World Liberty brushes off liquidation fears
Justin Sun’s WLFI position is down by more than $80 million, according to Bubblemaps data.

World Liberty used WLFI as collateral to borrow tens of millions of dollars in stablecoins on Thursday.
Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain, saw his frozen holdings of World Liberty Financial's WLFI token shed over $11 million in value on Friday as the Trump-backed project moved to dismiss concerns over its recent borrowing activity.

WLFI fell 15% over the past 24 hours, according to The Block’s price page, marking a decline of more than 74% since the token first became tradeable last year.

Sun initially invested $30 million into World Liberty Financial in late 2024, before the token's trading debut the following year. He later accumulated a position in WLFI tokens worth roughly $75 million alongside a $100 million commitment to Donald Trump's TRUMP memecoin.

World Liberty blacklisted the wallet linked to Sun last year after it moved roughly $9 million in WLFI, effectively freezing the tokens and preventing transfers or sales.

Blockchain analytics platform Bubblemaps estimates Sun's frozen WLFI holdings of roughly 545 million tokens are now worth about $45 million, and said on X that the position is down over $80 million from earlier valuations.

This rise reflected sustained capital inflows rather than speculative spikes, pointing to growing structural adoption.

As this unfolded, projections ranged from $30.2 billion in a bearish case to $47.0 billion in a bullish scenario.

However, this trend created a disconnect. While the sector expanded, with tokenized equities approaching $1 billion, the Ondo Finance [$ONDO] price remained muted.

This suggested capital engaged the infrastructure, not the tokens, delaying direct price impact.

Why is the price still lagging?

Ondo Finance continued to scale, as Total Value Locked (TVL) climbed to $3.567 billion.

Out of this, $2.198 billion remained anchored on Ethereum [ETH], with expansion across other chains.

On top of that, annualized fees reached $54.11 million, with $4.44 million generated over the past 30 days. However, this expansion did not translate into token value.
