The more the market aligns with the environment, the more “sentiment” starts to emerge as a key signal.

Nothing illustrates this better than the last few days. Investor sentiment has been tightly tracking the daily swings in geopolitical headlines, particularly around the U.S.-Iran situation, with risk appetite shifting almost in real time alongside each development.

Bitcoin, in turn, has been caught right in the middle of this flow.

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index highlights this dynamic clearly. Twice since the Iran-U.S. conflict emerged, the index has hit resistance, aligning with BTC’s own rejection zone around $75k.

The first instance came on the 16th of March, when the index dropped 8 points in a week. A similar setup formed on the 7th of April, when the index hit 47, followed by a 5-point dip shortly after.

The crypto market saw a surge in activity over the past day with Bitcoin’s breakout above $74,000. This price move triggered widespread liquidations and renewed accumulation by large holders.

At the same time, analysts weighed in on longer-term risks tied to quantum computing. Meanwhile, a prominent U.S. regulatory figure signaled a significant career pivot.

Bitcoin Rally Triggers $527M in Liquidations

Indeed, Bitcoin’s upward momentum caught many leveraged traders off guard. This has resulted in $527 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours, according to Coinglass.

In particular, short positions bore the brunt of the losses, with $425.69 million wiped out, compared to $101.73 million in long liquidations. This imbalance highlights how heavily traders were positioned against the rally.

In total, more than 176,000 accounts were liquidated during the move. Notably, the largest single liquidation, worth $12.4 million, occurred on the BTC/USDT pair on the Aster perpetual exchange.

By asset, Bitcoin led with $226.93 million in liquidations, followed by Ethereum at $134.20 million and RAVE at $41.63 million.

This surge appears to be driven by cooler-than-expected U.S. inflation data and easing geopolitical tensions, both of which have boosted overall risk appetite. Notably, around 95% of the inflows came from the United States, reinforcing the idea that institutional capital — particularly from Wall Street — continues to dominate market direction.

Bitcoin was the clear winner, attracting $872 million in inflows, bringing its year-to-date total close to $2 billion.
At the same time, short Bitcoin products saw $20.2 million in inflows, signaling that some investors are still hedging rather than going all-in bullish.

While still in net outflow territory for the year, this marks a notable shift in short-term sentiment, suggesting early signs of renewed confidence.

This divergence indicates the market is still in a restructuring phase, rather than a broad-based rally.

$HYPE price held steady at its highest level since October last year as the crypto market rallied and as 21Shares made a minor update to its Hyperliquid token ETF. It has now jumped by over 110% from its lowest level this year.

In a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), 21Shares announced that its $HYPE ETF will have the ticker symbol of THYP. The filing did not have the fees the company will charge, and according to Eric Balchunas, it was likely because of the SEC comment and feedback.

This filing came after Bitwise unveiled its $HYPE ETF fees and ticker symbol. It will charge customers a 0.67% fee, making it one of the most expensive funds in the market. The details of this filing mean that the listing of these ETFs is nearing.

These filings come at a time when Hyperliquid is firing on all cylinders as demand for its services rise. For example, data compiled by DeFi Llama shows that the network’s volume in the last 30 days stood at over $193 billion.

Aster the second-biggest name in the industry, had $65 billion, while edgeX and Lighter handled over $65 billion and $71 billion in volume, respectively. Hyperliquid’s volume has soared during the ongoing war because of its popularity among crude oil futures traders.

The same growth is happening in its stablecoin growth, with data showing that Hype EVM has a stablecoin supply of $1.8 billion. Its stablecoin volume in the last 30 days was over $9 billion.

Data compiled by TokenTerminal shows that Hyperliquid’s fee growth has continued growing in the past few months. Hyperliquid generated over $880 million in fees in the last 365 days, a notable achievement for a company with just 11 employees. It has made over $51 million in the last 30 d

Federal Reserve Member Austan Goolsbee: “Interest Rate Cuts Could Be Postponed Until 2027”


Federal Reserve official Austan Goolsbee, highlighting the impact of global geopolitical risks on monetary policy, said the Fed may begin interest rate cuts later than expected.

He warned that interest rate cuts could be postponed until 2027, especially if a war with Iran were to keep oil prices permanently high.

In a statement on Tuesday, Goolsby said that high energy prices could slow the decline in inflation toward the Fed’s 2 percent target. In this scenario, he indicated, the Fed might have to wait longer before cutting interest rates.

Speaking at the Semaphore World Economic Conference, Goolsby reiterated his earlier prediction of multiple interest rate cuts by 2026. However, he stressed that this expectation could be postponed if current conditions persist and inflation remains high. Goolsby stated, “If we don’t see a drop in inflation and it remains at high levels, the timing of interest rate cuts could extend beyond 2026. Our primary responsibility is to bring inflation back to the 2 percent level.”

Goolsby, who had previously adopted a relatively optimistic stance, particularly believing that inflation caused by tariffs would be temporary, stated that this confidence has weakened in light of recent developments.

On the other hand, Goolsby also stated that not all scenarios are negative. He said that if the oil price shock originating from the Middle East proves temporary and inflation returns to a downward trend, interest rate cuts could be back on the agenda. However, he noted that in some cases, even interest rate increases could be on the table.
