On Friday, Reuters reported the corollary: the Meta layoffs investors had been bracing for are coming, with roughly 8,000 jobs cut starting May 20, about 10% of its 79,000-person workforce.

Bettors on Polymarket, the prediction market backed by Wall Street's Intercontinental Exchange, saw it coming. The site's Meta headcount and Meta share-price markets, with about $112,000 in combined volume, were already pricing the cuts as both inevitable and good for the stock before Reuters published. The broader "Tech Layoffs Up or Down in 2026?" book has been at 77% Up all month and the Q1 companion has collapsed to 96% Up, essentially calling the quarter resolved before it formally settles on May 5.

How Many Tech Workers Polymarket Sees Losing Jobs

The Meta-specific markets tell the cleaner version of the story. A Polymarket book on "Meta headcount above ___ in Q1?" with about $46,000 in volume is essentially certain Meta finished the quarter above 75,000 employees (99%) and 76,000 (98%), but only gives 32% odds it stayed above 77,000 and 11% odds above 78,000. That implies an end-of-Q1 headcount near 76,500, down from the 79,000 figure Reuters used as the baseline. About 2,500 Meta jobs are already gone. The May 20 wave will take that to roughly 11,000 cuts on the year.

The market is pricing the cuts as good news for the stock. A separate "What price will Meta hit in April?" book with $66,000 in volume has Meta already clearing $700 (85% Yes), $730 priced at 42%, and a downside dip to $540 trading at just 5.75%. Polkadot recovers 17% after Hyperbridge exploit: Will DOT’s gains continue?

 The Hyperbridge exploit caused Polkadot [$DOT] to lose a significant portion of its market cap, but it has since fully recovered.

 The altcoin’s price crashed after a hacker minted 1 billion $DOT tokens on Ethereum [$ETH] but only sold them for $237K due to lack of liquidity.  The team clarified that the actual loss had ballooned to $2.5 million as the team made efforts to recover the funds.

 However, the assurance that Polkadot’s core network security remained intact fueled a 17% price recovery.

 What drove $DOT’s price recovery?

 A statement released by the team after the exploit assured users of security, as the core network had not been affected.  It’s the bridged $DOT tokens on Ethereum.

 As a result, the community sentiment returned to 82% bullish from 954.1K voters, as per CoinMarketCap.  Consequently, the price of the altcoin rallied from $1.146 to $1.354.

 The relief brought about a rebound in network activity.  As per Artemis data, the number of transactions increased by 1,400, from 10.5K to 11.9K, in just one day.

 Additionally, daily active users (DAU) increased by 1.67x even though the figures remained relatively low.  DAU rose from 3,000 to 5,000, indicating users were gradually returning to the network.

 The Total Value Locked (TVL) also experienced a surge of about 11.29% in a day, while the stablecoin market cap grew to $77.83 million after the massive drop.

 Moreover, the altcoin commanded a significant amount of daily trading volume of about $403 million.  However, the revenue of the network remained low as it attempted to get back on its feet.

A new study has found that while most crypto protocols generate revenue, they fail to disclose crucial investor information. Key shortcomings include market-making protocols and structured investor communications.

Key Findings

Novora's research found that among more than 150 crypto protocols, 91% generate revenue, but information disclosure remains limited.

Less than 1% of protocols disclose market-making transactions, exposing risks related to token pricing and liquidity.

Only 9% of protocols have adopted the 2025 Transparency Framework, indicating a need for improved investor reporting.

Despite Growing Revenue Data, Crypto Protocol Transparency Still Lags Behind

A new study by Novora shows that while most cryptocurrency protocols generate measurable revenue, few reach the level of transparency expected in traditional financial markets.

This study reviewed more than 150 projects, covering decentralized exchanges, lending platforms, and blockchain infrastructure, and found that 91% of protocols have traceable revenue.  However, only a small fraction of protocols present this data in a way that investors can understand.

The biggest gap lies in the disclosure of market maker arrangements. While market makers have a direct impact on token liquidity and price formation, less than 1% of protocols provide information about their agreements with market makers. These agreements typically involve token lending, incentives, or options, which can significantly influence trading conditions.

Only Meteora publicly discloses such details in the dataset, highlighting a key industry blind spot described in the report.

The findings point to a broader problem: data exists, but communication is lacking. Only 3% of protocols maintain a dedicated investor relations center to consolidate financial and operational information. Most protocols rely on decentralized channels such as

Where the Price Stands

The important level to watch is $0.171. Until Pi closes a daily candle above it, the recovery thesis stays on hold. Resistance stacks up quickly above that level:

20-day EMA at $0.175

The Fundamentals Stacking Up

Away from the price chart, three developments stand out this week:

18 million KYC-verified users. Pi continues to argue that its user base is different from that of every other crypto network. These are confirmed humans, not wallet addresses.

A whale accumulated 350 million PI. Large accumulation at current prices signals someone with long-term conviction is buying the range rather than exiting it.
