Dogecoin consolidates amid renewed institutional interest


The cryptocurrency market is bearish on Monday after the poor performance recorded on Sunday. Bitcoin is trading below $71,000, while Ether risks dropping below $2,100 if the bearish trend persists.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin, the leading memecoin by market cap, is holding steady around $0.09000 at press time on Monday, after losing over 2% on the previous day.

The consolidating performance comes as institutional demand for Dogecoin surged on Friday, with its largest inflow ever.

The leverage market also shows mixed sentiment, while the momentum indicators lean bearish as $DOGE tapers within a descending triangle pattern.

Institutional demand for Dogecoin returns

Sentiment toward Dogecoin is mixed due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

On Friday, $DOGE-focused Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) recorded $1.34 million in inflows, marking their largest inflow ever after 18 consecutive days of zero net flows.

The return of institutional interest marks its fifth daily inflow since inception and solidifies near-term confidence.

However, derivatives data show mixed sentiment among leveraged traders in the market.

CoinGlass data shows $DOGE futures Open Interest (OI) stands at $1.18 billion, rising over 1% in the last 24 hours, indicating an increase in the notional value of outstanding $DOGE contracts.

Meanwhile, the bulls have yet to take full control of the market as the OI-weighted funding rate fluctuates around the zero line. Currently, the $DOGE funding rate is positive at 0.0029%, suggesting a near-term bullish bias.

Technical outlook: Will $DOGE rally above $0.1?

Similar to other major cryptocurrencies, the $DOGE/USD 4-hour chart remains bearish and efficient.

Bitcoin climbed to $75,900 during Tuesday’s mid-morning U.S. trading session, reaching its highest level since February 5, when the price had plunged sharply to around $60,000.
The latest rally comes as optimism grows around developments in the Iran conflict, helping boost risk assets while pushing oil prices lower. The Nasdaq Composite rose 1.2%, while WTI crude oil dropped 6% to around $93 per barrel.
Crypto-related stocks also rallied broadly. Strategy gained 7.6%, Coinbase rose 6.2%, Circle jumped 11%, and Galaxy Digital added 8.3%.
Bitcoin mining stocks also posted strong gains, as many miners continue shifting toward AI-focused data center expansion. Keel Infrastructure surged 20.5%, while MARA Holdings rose 5.8% and Hut 8 gained 4.8%.
The broader market backdrop has also turned more supportive. With the Nasdaq hitting its highest level since early February, Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin, reflecting a stronger risk-on sentiment across markets, according to LMAX Group strategist Joel Kruger.
He noted that recent trading activity shows “early signs of renewed market engagement,” supported by improving technical trends and broader participation.
Looking ahead, the key test for Bitcoin is the $76,000 resistance level — a zone where the previous rebound in mid-March lost momentum.
Kruger added that a decisive breakout above this level, combined with continued strength in Ethereum, would be crucial in confirming whether the current recovery can develop into a sustained bullish trend.

Bitcoin price surged more than 5% in the evening of April 13, climbing near the $75,000 level and marking its strongest intraday move in a couple weeks as traders reacted to a mix of macro pressure and technical positioning.

The rally follows several days of choppy trading, with bitcoin price holding a tight range between roughly $68,000 support and $75,000 resistance amid geopolitical tension tied to U.S.–Iran developments over the last several weeks.

Earlier in the week, the asset slipped toward $70,000 after the collapse of diplomatic talks and a U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which drove oil prices higher and weighed on risk assets.

The move also comes as broader markets remain under strain. Oil prices have surged above $100 per barrel following escalating tensions in the Middle East, while expectations for near-term Federal Reserve rate cuts have diminished amid persistent inflation. Despite these headwinds, bitcoin has shown resilience, holding above $70,000 for most of the past week.

Bitcoin price and Strategy’s accumulation

Bitcoin price started the day trading near $70,000 and skyrocketed into Monday’s close. Analysts had flagged a large cluster of leveraged short positions above the $72,000–$73,500 range, creating conditions for a rapid upside move once resistance levels broke. As prices pushed higher through that band, liquidations accelerated the rally, sending bitcoin price toward the top of its multi-week range.

On top of this, Strategy’s STRC at-the-market (ATM) program reached a new milestone on April 13, 2026, as its preferred stock recorded over $1 billion in single-day trading volume, with all activity occurring above the $100 par value required to trigger share issuance.

This enabled the company to run its ATM program at full capacity throughout the session.
