The OpenAI Foundation was officially launched this week.

The organization announced that it will complete the distribution of over $100 million in Alzheimer's disease research grants to six research institutions this month, making this disease a top priority in the foundation's goal to invest at least $1 billion in Alzheimer's research by 2026. These grants focus on four main research areas: using AI to map the Alzheimer's disease pathway; using AI to aid in the development and laboratory testing of new drugs; supporting open datasets for predicting drug activity and mapping disease progression; and developing new biomarkers for diagnostics and clinical trials, including repurposing existing FDA-approved molecules to shorten the path from discovery to treatment. This work is led by Jacob Trefethen, head of life sciences at the OpenAI Foundation; he previously worked at Coefficient Giving, managing over $500 million in scientific and medical research grants.  The foundation's total grantmaking in 2024 was $7.6 million, meaning the $100 million grant represents a 13-fold increase in a single month. These grants are part of the foundation's commitment to spend $1 billion by 2026, which itself is the first tranche of a long-term $25 billion philanthropic commitment. This commitment was made possible by OpenAl's capital restructuring in the fall of 2025, marking the nonprofit's first funding since the creation of its for-profit subsidiary in 2019. OpenAl's Alzheimer's page clearly describes the disease: "Alzheimer's disease is one of the most complex and heartbreaking illnesses facing families and one of the most challenging issues in medicine." Wait, there's a dash in that sentence. Let me remove the dash and repeat.

Bitcoin is currently moving in a narrow range after a strong rise in 2025. After touching a record high of $126,000, the price dropped and has mostly stayed between $70,000 and $72,000 in April 2026. This shows that the market is plateauing after a massive rally.

The price is moving sideways. This kind of movement usually means traders are unsure about the market’s direction in the near future. Buyers are stepping in near the $70,000 support level. On the other hand, the area around $73,000 is acting as resistance, where selling pressure increases.

A Proposal Submitted That Would Bring Radical Changes to XRP-Based Altcoins! If Accepted, It Could Significantly Reduce Token Inflation

Flare ($FLR), an XRP-based DeFi ecosystem, has introduced a governance model that will reduce $FLR inflation by 40%.

According to CoinDesk, Flare has proposed a governance reform.

Accordingly, Flare proposed a governance change to define the Maximum Retrievable Value (MEV) at the protocol level and reduce the annual $FLR inflation from 5% to 3%.

With this, Flare plans to reduce the annual token inflation rate from 5% to 3% and lower the cap on the token supply. This move aims to support value stability by reducing the number of tokens entering the market.

If the proposal is accepted, the changes will take effect immediately. These include reducing the annual $FLR export limit from five billion to three billion and increasing the base gas fee twentyfold, from 60 gwei to 1,200 gwei.

This fee increase is expected to raise the amount of $FLR burned annually from approximately 7.5 million to 300 million. Even after the increase, a standard Flare operation will still cost a fraction of a few cents.

On April 8, Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund began trading on the NYSE Arca under the ticker MSBT, logging 1.6 million shares and roughly $34 million in volume on its highly anticipated first day.

The MSBT fund purchased 430 Bitcoin on day one, following $30.6 million in net inflows.

Speaking on this performance, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted that MSBT's achievement comfortably places it among the top 1% of all ETF launches over the past year.

For comparison, the vast majority of newly launched ETFs across all asset classes average $1 million or less on their first day of trading.

Why this matters
This is one of the clearest signs yet that traditional finance is no longer just distributing Bitcoin exposure. It is beginning to manufacture and price that exposure directly, which could reshape fees, advisor flows, and where new ETF demand lands next.
