Uniswap has successfully dismissed a class-action lawsuit that accused its platform of facilitating fraudulent token transactions, ending a case that began in 2022.

On Monday, Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the plaintiffs' second amended complaint and ruled that the plaintiffs could not hold Uniswap liable for misconduct by an unidentified third-party token issuer.

The lawsuit was initially filed in April 2022 by investors who claimed to have suffered losses by trading anonymous fraudulent tokens through the Uniswap protocol. The plaintiffs argued that Uniswap operated as an unregistered securities exchange and brokerage firm, profiting by charging liquidity fees while allowing fraudulent tokens to circulate on its smart contracts.

Judge Ferra had previously dismissed the plaintiffs' claims in August 2023. Monday's ruling marks the final outcome of the case, with the court finding that the plaintiffs failed to reasonably accuse the defendants of actual knowledge of fraud, deceptive conduct in violation of state consumer laws, or unjust enrichment.

The court drew a parallel between this case and peer-to-peer technology that could be used for illegal purposes, and ruled that developers of decentralized protocols are not liable for the illegal activities of third-party users.

Day four of the Middle East conflict is bringing renewed volatility to global markets during Tuesday's pre-market, with a clear shift toward risk off positioning.

Metals are also under pressure. Gold and silver are both lower, with gold holding above $5,300 per ounce and silver sliding another 4% to around $85 per ounce.

In energy markets, WTI crude oil is above $74 per barrel up 5% over the past 24 hours, nearing Sunday futures highs just above $75. Meanwhile, the US dollar is strengthening sharply, with the DXY index climbing above 99, a level not seen since Jan. 20.

Treasury yields are edging higher across the curve. The US 10 year yield is holding firmly above 4% and pushing toward 4.1%, reflecting persistent rate pressure.

Crypto related equities are tracking bitcoin lower. Strategy (MSTR), the largest publicly traded holder of bitcoin, is down 2%. Coinbase (COIN) has fallen 5%, Galaxy Digital is off 3%, and AI focused miners IREN (IREN) and Cipher Digital (CIFR) are also down roughly 4%.
