President Trump Names Meta, Nvidia CEOs to White House Tech and Science Council

President Donald Trump has named tech leaders including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to his President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), joining a group of other prominent AI and tech industry founders and executives.

The council, established by executive order and announced by the White House on Wednesday, will be co-chaired by entrepreneur David Sacks—previously the White House AI and crypto czar—and former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios.

The 13 initial appointees also include Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, AMD CEO Lisa Su, and Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell, along with Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam and prominent crypto venture capitalist Marc Andreessen.

Other members include fusion energy executives Jacob DeWitte and Bob Mumgaard, former Google quantum computing researcher John Martinis, entrepreneur David Friedberg, and Oracle CEO Safra Catz.

The council can comprise up to 24 members, with additional appointments expected "in the near future along with information about the Council's first meeting," according to the White House statement.

According to the White House, PCAST will focus on topics related to "the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present to the American workforce, and ensuring all Americans thrive in the Golden Age of Innovation." The appointment follows a historical precedent dating to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Science Advisory Board in 1933.

Just last week, the White House released a national policy framework for AI, which outlined recommendations to Congress regarding national standards for AI that could be regulated by existing federal agencies instead of creating a new regulator for the purpose.

Bitcoin’s push toward $72,000 stalled after Iran rebuffed ceasefire chatter, insisting that no talks have occurred since the war began in late February, state media FARS reported Wednesday.

These comments directly oppose President Donald Trump’s claim on Monday that diplomatic talks were underway.

Citing the discussions’ positive tone, Trump announced a five-day pause on any military strikes against Iran’s power and energy facilities while negotiations continue to move forward.

Despite offers from regional and international mediators, Iran said it would continue its military defenses.

Bullish momentum faltered as Iran shot down reports of talks with the US.

According to TradingView, Bitcoin reversed on Wednesday after climbing to nearly $72,000 in early trading. The digital asset traded at $71,580 at press time, up about 1.5% in the last 24 hours.

Geopolitical uncertainty and a weak macro outlook are weighing on markets.

Hyperliquid Strategies launches options trading on PURR common stock

HYPE treasury firm Hyperliquid Strategies announced that it launched options trading for its common stock PURR.

The launch aims to improve liquidity and price discovery for PURR shares, Hyperliquid Strategies said in a press release.

Digital asset treasury firm Hyperliquid Strategies Inc announced Tuesday that it has launched options trading on its common stock PURR on the Nasdaq Options Market.

According to a company press release, the launch aims to improve liquidity and price discovery for PURR shares, which offer capital-efficient exposure to Hyperliquid's native HYPE token. Hyperliquid Strategies primarily focuses on accumulating HYPE tokens to maximize shareholder value through staking, yield optimization, and ecosystem participation. 

"This is a major milestone for the company," said David Schamis, CEO of Hyperliquid Strategies. "PURR options allow our investors to better manage risk and participate in the rapid growth of Hyperliquid's high-performance ecosystem."

Schamis noted that the options launch coincides with Hyperliquid's record growth, driven by surging trading volumes in oil perpetuals and other tokenized real-world assets. Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets for perp futures tied to tokenized traditional assets hit a new peak of $1.74 billion in aggregated open interest after launching just six months ago.
Hyperliquid Strategies went public last December through a merger with Sonnet BioTherapeutics. As of early February 2026, it held 17.6 million HYPE tokens — roughly 1.83% of the total supply — after deploying additional capital to increase its position. 

At the end of 2025, the company reported total assets of $616.7 million, though it posted a net loss of $317.9 million for the second half of 2025.
