In the last 24-hours, the meme coin sector witnessed a significant surge of over 12% to reach a market cap of $39.8 billion, according to Coingecko data. The buying pressure followed a sudden capital rotation to these volatile assets, as the escalation of the middle-east war has triggered a risk on sentiment.

Hopes for an extended U.S.–Iran ceasefire has stabilized markets, with Bitcoin reclaiming the $75,000 mark. The Fear and Greed Index of the cryptocurrency was at 56 as of April 16, 2026, which is squarely in the neutral zone. It is a level of equilibrium in the market sentiment and investors are not really scared or greedy.

Meme coins saw noticeable price increases during the day. $PEPE price climbed 9% to $0.000004, leading the segment. DOGEgained 3.07%, reaching $0.09601, while SHIB rose 3.41% to $0.00000606. These stable conditions showed positive price action in the meme sector in general.

Tempo Unveils 'Zones' for Private Enterprise Stablecoin Transactions

Tempo, the payments-focused Layer 1 blockchain, on Wednesday introduced Tempo Zones, a new feature that lets enterprises run private stablecoin transactions on parallel blockchains connected to Tempo's mainnet.

The product targets a core friction point for institutions exploring stablecoin rails: public blockchains broadcast every transaction by default. A company processing payroll, for example, would expose individual salary data on-chain, while a payment processor would leak confidential merchant volume with every settlement.

"The parties to a transaction should see the details, the broad public should not, all while retaining the usability and interoperability of stablecoin rails," the Tempo team wrote in a blog post.

Zones serve as private execution environments where participants can transact without publicly revealing information. Assets remain interoperable with Tempo's mainnet, meaning users inside a Zone can still access on-ramps, off-ramps, and decentralized exchange liquidity on the base layer.

The Zone operator, which can be the enterprise itself or a third-party infrastructure provider, has visibility into all transactions within its Zone for compliance and reporting purposes, but does not have custody of funds. Assets are locked in a smart contract on Tempo's mainnet and can only be withdrawn by the owning user.

Tempo said enterprises managing payroll are among the first users of Zones, with broader production deployments planned in phases. The company is currently working with design partners across payroll, treasury, settlement, and tokenized deposit use cases.

Crypto pundit SMQKE has raised speculations that SWIFT may be integrating XRP for payments. He alluded to a code, which suggests that Ripple could easily move to establish connections between SWIFT-linked institutions and the XRP Ledger.

Pundit Highlights Alleged Link Between XRP and SWIFT
In an X post, SMQKE drew attention to the R3 Corda codebase, which he noted links XRP to ISO 20022 and SWIFT. He noted that any token or company aspiring to operate on the SWIFT network must comply with ISO 20022. He added that since XRP is ISO 20022-ready, and SWIFT relies on these standards, Ripple can technically establish direct connections and settlements with any SWIFT-enabled institution through the XRP Ledger.

XRP stakeholder RippleXity was the first to highlight the R3 Corda codebase, noting modules named XrpPayment, XrpSettlement, SWIFTService, and SWIFTPaymentStatusType, which point to XRP integration. However, there has been no confirmation from SWIFT regarding a potential integration.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the only known connection between XRP and SWIFT is through Ripple. SWIFT is named as one of the connectivity partners for Ripple Treasury for payments. Furthermore, the Treasury Management firm is also part of the SWIFT Certified Partner program. However, SWIFT doesn’t use XRP for its payment services.

SWIFT announced last year plans to launch its distributed ledger, signaling that it had no intention of adopting the XRP Ledger or XRP for its payment services. However, Ripple has continued to integrate XRP into the operations of other firms it acquired last year, including GTreasury, now known as Ripple Treasury. Last month, Ripple integrated XRP and RLUSD into its treasury management system, marking the first time a management system has native on-chain capabilities.
