Bitcoin climbed toward $80,000 after Iran said the Strait of Hormuz was fully open to commercial traffic for the remainder of the ceasefire period, easing pressure on one of the world’s most important energy chokepoints and triggering a broader risk-on move across markets.

The largest cryptocurrency rose 5% on the news to as high as $77,700, according to CryptoSlate data. The move extended a weeklong rebound that has lifted Bitcoin nearly 7% from below $70,000 to its strongest level since the early February crash.

The rally set off a sharp liquidation wave across leveraged crypto positions. CoinGlass data showed about $243 million in liquidations over the past 1 hour, with most of the losses concentrated among traders positioned for further downside.

For context, Bitcoin short traders lost more than $100 million during the reporting period.

​Over the past week, Centrifuge [CFG] has emerged as one of the hottest issuers of Real-World Assets (RWA). CFG recorded a massive 32% double-digit gain in the last 24 hours—marking its third consecutive day of such growth—making it a top performer among the top 300 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
​Price Action: Breakout and Potential Correction
On the 4-hour chart, CFG broke out of an ascending triangle consolidation pattern, surging to $0.26. However, sellers quickly responded, pulling the price back to $0.2267.
​The Retracement: Following such a breakout, a healthy correction is typical. Prices may drop toward the 0.5 Fibonacci level or the "Optimal Trade Entry" zone between 0.618 and 0.786 Fibonacci levels.
​Next Target: If CFG successfully breaks above $0.26, the next major target is $0.35, as there is very little overhead resistance on higher timeframes.

​Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD): The CVD suggests the daily high may have been reached, with over 514k CFG sold recently, following a peak net buy volume of 4.86 million tokens.
​Trend Strength Index (TSI): Despite the pullback, the TSI stands at 0.83, indicating that the bullish trend strength remains in the 80th percentile.

Centrifuge’s network activity is hitting monthly highs, with asset senders and holders reaching new peaks.
​AUM Growth: RWA capital deployed on Centrifuge grew by 45.3% this month, rising from $1.17 billion to $1.7 billion.
​Volume: Monthly token transaction volume soared by 154%, hitting $1 billion.
Centrifuge now ranks 5th in Total Value Locked (TVL) among RWA issuers, trailing only BitGo, Securitize, Ondo Finance, and BlackRock.

The momentum is fueled by industry-wide optimism. Two-thirds of operators expect Tokenized Assets Under Management (AUM) to exceed $150 billion by the end of 2027.

In an April 15 Discord update shared on X by community member Rayyan, Qubic tech lead Joetom said phase 2 began with epoch 209 and that, from this point, “each computor can operate in either legacy XMR mode or Doge mode.” He added: “For every computor index, only one contribution is counted: max(XMR, DOGE). This effectively replaces XMR participation if Doge yields a higher contribution. No dual counting.”

Qubic Activates Dogecoin Phase 2

The move lines up with the transition plan Qubic published ahead of launch. In its March 27 rollout note, the team described a three-phase migration from XMR to DOGE. Phase 1 was a testing period in which XMR revenue remained intact while Dogecoin mining ran on mainnet in a non-rewarded validation mode.

Phase 2 was framed as the decision point, where computors could opt into DOGE rewards while XMR began phasing out. Phase 3 is the end state: XMR removed, DOGE running at full production, and Qubic’s CPU and GPU resources returned to full-time AI training.

That broader architecture is central to Qubic’s pitch. Under the old model, the network alternated between Monero hashing and AI-related work. With Dogecoin, Qubic says the jobs can run in parallel because DOGE mining relies on Scrypt ASICs, while the network’s AI training stack runs on CPUs and GPUs. The result, in Qubic’s telling, is a cleaner division of labor and a path toward running both workstreams at full capacity rather than splitt

Corporate miner selling keep Bitcoin in a distribution-heavy setup

The real pressure from miner capitulation doesn’t typically come from individual miners.

Instead, the impact comes from publicly listed mining companies that collectively hold sizable BTC treasuries.

The logic is simple: Unlike smaller miners, corporate Bitcoin miners function at scale, meaning their treasury sales introduce steady supply into the market rather than one-off sell orders. 

The result? Miner capitulation becomes less about declining hash rate and more about balance-sheet stress. A recent CryptoQuant report highlights this ongoing trend.

As the chart below shows, miner reserves have steadily declined during the current cycle, dropping from roughly 1.862 million BTC to about 1.801 million BTC, a net sell-off of nearly 61k BTC.



Interestingly, much of this pressure is being driven by large Bitcoin mining firms. 

According to CryptoQuant data, Riot Platforms has reduced holdings by 4,026 BTC, Marathon Digital by 13,210 BTC, and Core Scientific by 1,992 BTC.

Technically, that accounts for over 30% of the 61k BTC sold, reinforcing the view that corporate miners are driving most of the distribution pressure.

Add to this tightening profitability and continued government BTC sales, and the broader supply-side pressure becomes even more evident.

Together, these factors suggest Bitcoin is still operating in a distribution-heavy phase rather than a clear accumulation setup, potentially carrying Q1’s sell-off pressure into Q2 and signaling a potentially bearish quarter for Bitcoin.
