Wrapped XRP goes live on Solana, broadening DeFi access for Ripple-linked token


Wrapped $XRP went live on Solana on Friday, issued by custodian Hex Trust and bridged through LayerZero, making the token available inside Solana's DeFi apps for the first time.

$XRP holders can now use the wrapped asset on Jupiter, Phantom, Titan Exchange, and Meteora without selling their underlying position.

Each wXRP is backed 1:1 by native $XRP held in segregated custody accounts and is redeemable at any time, according to Hex Trust.

The Solana launch is one leg of a broader rollout Hex Trust disclosed in December 2025, which also targets Ethereum, Optimism, and HyperEVM. The move fits a pattern that has accelerated through 2025 and 2026, where tokens that started their life on one chain are being bridged to others to capture yield and liquidity that did not exist at launch.

$XRP has historically functioned as a payment-rail token settled directly on the $XRP Ledger. Solana has built the opposite use case, a throughput-optimized smart contract platform where the DeFi and memecoin activity actually lives.

The piece of infrastructure underneath this deal is LayerZero, the cross-chain messaging protocol that has quietly won most of the bridge volume that used to flow through Wormhole, Nomad, and Ronin before those protocols were exploited for more than $1 billion combined between 2022 and 2024.

Whether $XRP generates meaningful DeFi volume on Solana is a separate question. The wrapped asset is live, but the test is whether holders actually use it.

According to blockchain analytics reported by AmberCN, Aztec Network transferred 5,020 $ETH to Coinbase approximately nine hours before public disclosure. Consequently, this transaction represents the final portion of the 19,388.4 $ETH originally secured during the project’s December 2023 token generation event. Initially valued at $59.13 million, the total $ETH holdings appreciated significantly before the systematic liquidation. Therefore, the completed sale demonstrates sophisticated treasury management practices increasingly common among well-funded blockchain projects.

Blockchain projects typically manage multi-asset treasuries containing:

Native tokens for ecosystem incentives

Stablecoins for operational expenses

Bitcoin or Ethereum as reserve assets

Aztec’s approach mirrors strategies employed by other major Layer 2 networks. For instance, Optimism and Arbitrum maintain substantial $ETH reserves while diversifying into stablecoins for predictable budgeting. Representative Sheri Biggs of South Carolina has disclosed a purchase of up to $250,000 in Bitcoin exposure via the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), marking one of the largest single Bitcoin-related buys by a sitting member of Congress. 

The Periodic Transaction Report filed with the House shows a transaction in the $100,001–$250,000 range executed on March 4, 2026 and reported in mid‑April, in line with disclosure deadlines under the STOCK Act.

The trade places Biggs among Congress’s most aggressive adopters of Bitcoin investment products, a cohort that already includes Senator David McCormick and Representative Brandon Gill, who have collectively reported hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin ETF purchases over the past year. 

Biggs has previously been identified by crypto advocacy groups as strongly supportive of digital assets, and her latest filing underscores how lawmakers are increasingly gaining direct financial exposure to the sector they help regulate.
