Aave DAO Grants $25M and 75,000 Tokens to Aave Labs
The framework, which cleared a temperature check on April 5, restructures how Aave Labs is funded and operated.
Aave's decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) has approved a $25 million stablecoin allocation and 75,000 AAVE tokens for Aave Labs, the core development team behind the protocol, under a framework called "Aave Will Win."

The vote passed on Saturday with nearly 75% in favor. The stablecoin funding will be distributed in installments over 12 months, while the token allocation vests linearly over four years, according to the governance dashboard.

The framework, which cleared a temperature check on April 5, restructures how Aave Labs is funded and operated. Under the new model, revenue from Aave products such as Aave Pro will flow to the DAO treasury rather than being retained by Aave Labs. The team will also limit its focus to Aave-related products, with the goal of accelerating development and reducing operational scope.

The proposal also ratified Aave V4 as the protocol's long-term technical foundation and outlined plans for a new foundation to steward the Aave brand. Other components of the framework tied to specific product launches and milestones will be subject to separate governance votes.

Aave is currently one of the largest DeFi protocols by total value locked, with its TVL exceeding $25 billion according to DefiLlama. The framework represents a significant shift in how the protocol's funding is structured and how its development team is compensated.

Aave founder Stani Kulechov called the proposal the most important in the protocol's history, writing in a post after the vote that holders of AAVE own not just the economic rights of the protocol, but the brand, the users, and the integrations.

Despite peace talks falling apart this weekend, cryptocurrency punters don't see high chances of the two-week U.S.–Iran ceasefire ending just yet.

Will The Ceasefire Extend?

The likelihood of the ceasefire ending by April 18, before the full two-week duration, was estimated at 30%.

More than $2 million has been wagered on the outcome, and the market will resolve to “Yes” if Trump, the federal government, or the U.S. military officially announces that the ceasefire is no longer in effect.

Notably, the odds of the military operation in Iran concluding by the end of this month dropped to 24%, down from 12% the previous day.

A Fragile Ceasefire?

Earlier, Vice President JD Vance, who led the high-level peace talks from the U.S. side, said negotiations broke down over Iran’s unwillingness .

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington of shifting demands at the last minute, adding, “Goodwill begets goodwill. Enmity begets enmity.”

President Donald Trump said Washington will raise pressure on Iran after peace talks in Pakistan stalled. The main split centered on Tehrans nuclear program. That shift has put the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil route, back in the market spotlight.

US Trump will impose a naval blockade after weekend talks with Iran in Islamabad ended without a deal. Two U.S. destroyers crossed the Strait of Hormuz as mine-clearing steps began. Oil surged above $100 a barrel, while Bitcoin and Ethereum both traded lower on the day. 

Trump later said the two sides got close on several points. Still, the talks failed when Iran would not give ground on its nuclear ambitions. After the breakdown, U.S. Trump Central Command said a blockade would start Monday for vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports. Reuters and AP both said non-Iranian traffic through the strait could still pass. So this is not a full shutdown of every ship route.

About one-fifth of the worlds seaborne oil moves through the strait. Even a partial blockade can rattle fuel prices, freight costs, and inflation fears within hours.  Brent jumped above $101, while U.S. crude climbed above $104 after the announcement.

The USS Frank Peterson and USS Michael Murphy crossed the waterway on April 11. CENTCOM described that move as part of a wider effort to clear sea mines that Iran had previously laid.
