Cantor Fitzgerald has donated $10 million to Fellowship PAC, a crypto-focused super PAC chaired by Tether’s U.S. head of government affairs Jesse Spiro, according to Federal Election Commission filings disclosed Wednesday.

The donation comes at a moment when the line between traditional finance and crypto lobbying capital is becoming hard to define.

The headline number is large enough to matter. Whether it buys the regulatory outcomes the industry wants – and on what timeline – is the harder question.

A super PAC operates without contribution limits from corporations or individuals, provided it does not coordinate directly with candidates.

Fellowship PAC uses that structure to back pro-crypto candidates in federal races and fund issue-advocacy advertising – the $3 million already spent on advocacy ads is the clearest example of the latter in action.

Cantor Fitzgerald’s involvement is not a new relationship dressed up as political altruism. The firm has custodied Tether’s reserve assets since 2021, putting it at the center of the world’s most systemically significant stablecoin operation.

When Howard Lutnick, then Cantor’s CEO, now U.S. Secretary of Commerce, faced Senate confirmation hearings, lawmakers pressed him specifically on those crypto ties and their implications for liquidity markets and counter-terrorism financing policy.

Lutnick has since exited day-to-day operations; Cantor is now run by his sons. The $10 million donation follows that transition, which makes it a cleaner read on institutional intent rather than one executive’s personal calculus.

The firm is making a deliberate bet that pro-crypto regulatory outcomes in Washington are worth funding at scale.

$XRP price rose 6% to a three-week high of $1.42 on Thursday, becoming the strongest gainer among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

According to data from crypto.news, $XRP ($XRP) price rallied to $1.42 on Thursday, April 16, with its market cap moving back above $87 billion and reclaiming the spot of being the 4th largest crypto asset in the market. The token still lies nearly 23% lower than where it began this year.

While hopes of de-escalation in the U.S. and Iran war have lifted the market sentiment, triggering a bounce across most crypto assets, $XRP price could specifically benefit from three catalysts over the coming sessions.

First, the most significant hurdle for $XRP has been regulatory ambiguity over its security status, a long-standing challenge that the CLARITY Act could solve. As such, the U.S. Senate Banking Committee is scheduled to mark up the bill for later this month.

The bill is important as if it clears this committee, it would formally codify $XRP as a digital commodity, moving it from permitted existence to protected legality. This would effectively remove the remaining litigation discount and provide a clear legal green light for major institutions to deploy capital.

Second, $XRP price stands to benefit from renewed institutional demand for the token while retail investors remain cautious.

Data from SoSoValue show that spot $XRP ETFs have recorded their fourth consecutive day of inflows for the first time since March, drawing in a combined $38.86 million within the period. This brings the combined assets under management for U.S. spot $XRP ETFs to over $1.25 billion.

Such steady accumulation from smart money often precedes a sharp move upwards when it absorbs the remaining supply of tokens held in exchanges, currently at multi-year lows.

A key leader, core member, and executive at the Ethereum Foundation (EF), Josh Stark, announced his resignation from the Swiss-based non-profit after five years of dedicated service, underscoring that leadership issues within the Ethereum Foundation are on the rise.

Stark’s decision sparked controversy, as he failed to disclose the key reason for his departure. What he noted on his X account was that he had not formulated any future objectives. Instead, Stark alleged that he is taking a break to spend time with family and friends.

“The Ethereum ecosystem has consistently achieved what many believed was impossible. It’s easy to forget how much real fear and doubt existed about whether Ethereum would ever launch, if decentralized finance (DeFi) would succeed, or if Proof of Stake would actually be implemented,” the senior EF official said.

According to reports, Stark is among four senior members of the Ethereum Foundation’s leadership team, with most staff reporting to this group. Attempts by journalists to seek further clarification on his resignation were unsuccessful, as he declined to comment.

Notably, Ryan had served in the EF organization for seven years. The Ethereum Foundation acts as the primary governing authority for Ethereum.
