The latest wave of sleeping bitcoin, however, is not associated with the stolen funds but likely instead reflects old-school holders quietly moving coins to safer destinations. The blockchain exposes every movement, but never reveals the motive behind it.2014 Bitcoin Wallets Suddenly Roar Back to LifeAs bitcoin prices climbed over the last 24 hours, btcparser.com data shows 28 long-dormant wallets suddenly stirred between Aug. 19 and 20 after years of silence. The wallets shifted a total of 1,314.41 $BTC worth $94.03 million to fresh addresses, with a staggering 92.4% of the bitcoin coming from addresses first created in 2014. Even more striking, 21 of the 28 spends moved in neat 50 $BTC chunks from 2014 wallets created in November or December of that year.The owner moved the coins out of legacy P2PKH (Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash) wallets and consolidated them into newer P2WPKH (Pay-to-Witness-Public-Key-Hash) addresses. Several transfers landed in the same blocks, including block height 963203, suggesting the movements were coordinated rather than random. The destination addresses carry no flags from explorers such as Arkham Intelligence and, at least for now, show no obvious signs of heading toward an exchange.

Daily Chart: The Macro Bias Behind the $XRP Trend
The daily chart still reads as neutral, not bullish, because the rally has not cleared the long-term trend structure. $XRP closed at $1.19 with an RSI14 of 72.39, which places price firmly in overbought territory and usually precedes at least a pause, even in strong trends.

The MACD line sits at 0.00 against a signal line of -0.02, producing a modest positive histogram of 0.02. That marks a fresh, early-stage bullish cross rather than a confirmed one, so the daily momentum shift is real but still young.

The EMA structure deserves the most attention. Price is trading above both the 20-day EMA (1.05) and the 50-day EMA (1.08), which looks constructive on the surface. However, the 200-day EMA sits at 1.34, well above the current price.

That gap matters: $XRP is still technically below its long-term average, so this rally is happening inside a broader corrective structure rather than confirming a fresh long-term uptrend. This is why the system classifies the daily regime as neutral rather than bullish. The short-term

Bitcoin price recorded its strongest advance in months on Aug. 20, climbing above $71,000 as a change to U.S. Treasury debt buybacks, renewed exchange traded fund demand and forced short liquidations supported a broad cryptocurrency rally.

The cryptocurrency traded at $71,920 and had gained 11.4% over 24 hours when checked on Thursday, according to crypto.news market data. Its reported trading range stretched from $64,323 to $71,747, while 24 hour volume reached approximately $60.46 billion.

$BTC began the move near $64,400 before rapidly crossing $66,000, $68,000 and $70,000. The advance took bitcoin to its highest level since early June and lifted its market capitalization to approximately $1.44 trillion.

Bitcoin price responds to Treasury buyback expansion
The clearest macro development came from the U.S. Treasury Department on Aug. 19. The department announced that it would at least double the maximum size of liquidity support buybacks covering nominal Treasury securities in the 10 to 20 year and 20 to 30 year maturity sectors.

The maximum will rise from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation beginning Sept. 9. The change will remain effective through Nov. 4, when Treasury is scheduled to provide more information during its next quarterly refunding, according to the official announcement.

Treasury described the operations as measures designed to support liquidity in older government securities. They are not Federal Reserve asset purchases, monetary stimulus or direct investments in cryptocurrency.

Still, larger buybacks can improve trading conditions in the Treasury market. Long dated yields declined following the announcement, while the U.S. dollar weakened and risk assets advanced. Lower yields can reduce the relative appeal of interest bearing government debt compared with stocks, gold and cryptocurrencies.

The timing supports the view that the announcement helped trigger the move. It does not prove that Treasury policy alone caused bitcoin’s

NYSE parent may invest again in Polymarket as valuation crosses $20B: reportIntercontinental Exchange has signaled it may put more money into Polymarket’s next funding round after building a $1.64 billion stake in the prediction market platform.

Bloomberg reported Thursday that ICE Chief Executive Officer Jeff Sprecher said the New York Stock Exchange parent would consider participating if its involvement could help Polymarket complete the round.

“We’ll look at it, if it would help the round in order to have our imprimatur on it, we are always interested,” Sprecher told Bloomberg Television.

ICE may join Polymarket’s new funding round

Polymarket is seeking fresh capital at a valuation above $20 billion, according to Bloomberg, more than twice the valuation attached to the company in October. The report said the platform has continued to draw investor interest as prediction markets expand across sports, politics, geopolitics and other event based contracts.

ICE has already participated in two Polymarket funding rounds, with Bloomberg putting the exchange operator’s stake at $1.64 billion by March. Sprecher said the relationship was designed partly to allow the companies to exchange information and expertise, instead of turning ICE into a regular investor in technology startups.

As crypto.news reported in March, ICE invested another $600 million in Polymarket as part of a previously announced commitment of up to $2 billion. ICE said at the time that the investment was not expected to have a material effect on its financial results or capital return plans.
