The 'siphon effect' of AI on the semiconductor supply chain continues to ferment. As we enter the second half of 2026, a new wave of chip price increases is sweeping in with broader coverage and stronger intensity. On August 10, leading RF chip manufacturer Zhaoshengwei issued a price adjustment notice, announcing that new prices for its entire range of RF products will take effect from September 1. The following day, Guomin Technology followed suit, raising prices for some MCU products by 10% to 20%. Among international giants, STMicroelectronics will complete its third price adjustment of the year on August 23, while Analog Devices (ADI) will implement its second round of new prices starting September 13. Price adjustment notices are being issued across the board, from memory chips to MCUs, from RF front-end to power semiconductors, and from analog chips to passive components. Compared to the price increases in the first half of the year, this round is characterized by a more pronounced effect: the explosive demand for AI computing power is creating a 'siphon effect' on mature process capacities, compounded by rising supply chain costs, ongoing tightening of supply and demand, and expanding domestic substitution needs, collectively pushing the semiconductor industry into an upward cycle of rising volume and prices.
