What Happened?
The BIP-110 faction broke from the main Bitcoin network and managed to grind out a microscopic four-block chain tip. That would normally kill a fork cold, but BIP-110 proponents have another escape route: ditch the minority chain’s crushing SHA-256 difficulty by replacing its PoW cryptographic hash function entirely. Word on the street is that the PoW switch could land in September.

As of today, Roughnecks had dragged the minority chain to block 961635, only for it to stall again after that block was mined three days ago on Aug. 12. Block 961636 has since accumulated a staggering pile of fees, but with virtually zero exchange support, nobody can put a credible price on the BIP-110 forked asset and how much those fees would be worth.

The Plan: Blake2b
BIP-110 proponents, including Ocean co-founder Luke Dashjr, say the minority chain will swap its PoW from SHA-256 to Blake2b. The choice reportedly emerged from a randomized handful of PoW hash functions and algorithms. Importantly, replacing the minority chain’s PoW hash function does not invent or adopt an entirely new consensus mechanism.

The original Blake dates to 2008, while Blake2 arrived on Dec. 21, 2012, from Christian Winnerlein, Jean-Philippe Aumasson, Samuel Neves and Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn. Blake2b is the optimized 64-bit variant of the primitive, built for higher performance on modern processors. Blake2b was engineered to outrun SHA-256 on modern 64-bit processors while still targeting an equivalent or stronger level of cryptographic security.

Harvard Holds Steady on BlackRock Bitcoin ETF Stake After Prior Quarter’s CutThe university's endowment kept its $101 million position in BlackRock's bitcoin ETF unchanged in Q2, following a 43% reduction the quarter before.

Harvard's endowment did not adjust its bitcoin exchange-traded fund holding during the second quarter, according to filings reviewed by The Block and CryptoBriefing. The position, held through BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF, was valued at approximately $101 million as of the reporting period.

The decision to hold steady stands out because it follows a sharp reduction in the prior quarter. Harvard had trimmed the same stake by 43% before the second quarter began. Leaving the position untouched afterward suggests the endowment settled into a smaller but stable allocation, at least for now.

Institutional investors disclose equity-like holdings, including ETF shares, through periodic filings with securities regulators. These filings offer a snapshot of positioning at quarter's end but do not capture intraday trading or reasons behind allocation changes. Harvard has not publicly explained either the earlier cut or the subsequent pause.

BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF has become one of the primary vehicles institutions use to gain bitcoin exposure without holding the asset directly. The fund avoids the custody and operational complexities that come with owning bitcoin on-chain. That structure has made it attractive to pension funds, endowments, and other large allocators since its launch.

The synchronized selloff has shoved major long-term yields to levels unseen for years, and in some cases decades. U.S. 30-year Treasury yields hit about 5.25%, their highest since 2001, while Germany’s 30-year Bund yield neared 3.73%, its highest since 2011.

Investors Demand to Be Paid
A bond yield is the price governments pay investors for their money. When yields jump, bond prices drop, and borrowing gets more expensive, fast.

For more than a decade after the 2008 financial crisis, central banks pinned rates down and swallowed enormous piles of government debt. That forced yields lower, even below zero in Europe and Japan. The pandemic doubled down on the trade: governments borrowed freely while central banks kept the market from asking hard questions.

That arrangement is breaking. Investors lending for decades now want protection against inflation, runaway issuance and the shrinking purchasing power of the cash they will get back.

“Big rise in long-term government bond yields for Europe’s high-debt countries this week,” explained Robin Brooks, Senior Fellow in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. “France is the most notable, with 10y10y (orange) and 10y20y (red) forward yields moving to new all-time highs.”

Here’s why Shiba Inu’s latest price hike might just be a bull trap
On Friday, 14th August, Open Interest on Shiba Inu [$SHIB] positions rose from $46.54 million the day before to $52.79 million. According to Coinglass, this hinted at a 13.4% hike. This speculative volume flood was accompanied by an uptick of 4.03% too.

That’s not all though as Coinalyze’s data revealed that spot demand for Shiba Inu has been steady lately. The weekend tends to see lower trading volume, but $SHIB bulls might be able to drive a bigger rally next week if the spot and speculative buying pressure is maintained.

Let’s break down whether swing traders should adopt a bullish or bearish bias.

Short-term upward momentum shouldn’t fool $SHIB bulls

In a recent report, AMBCrypto highlighted the bearish swing structure of Shiba Inu on the 1-day timeframe. The bounce in late July extended to $0.00000583 but only tested an overhead supply zone.

Since that bounce, the memecoin has fallen by 21.4% in three weeks.
A local support zone at $0.0000046 was flipped to resistance over the past week. The short-term upward momentum on Friday saw the popular memecoin surge into this overhead supply zone.

The H4 timeframe’s technical indicators showed bears had the upper hand at press time. The RSI was above the neutral 50-level after the recent price bounce, but momentum was not strongly bullish.

Meanwhile, the CMF remained below -0.05 for the majority of August. The capital outflows from the market have been considerable, according to the indicator.

As it stands, the sustained demand needed to break the supply zone is not at hand.

SpaceX Stock Price Extends Thursday’s Decline
The SpaceX stock price closed around 3% lower at $141.29 on Thursday. However, that level remained slightly above the company’s $135 initial public offering price.

Friday’s early decline brought the SPCX stock price closer to its IPO level. Shares also traded about 30% below their June 16 closing high of $201.80.

Meanwhile, another equity supply event will arrive less than one week after the Cursor transaction. According to a regulatory filing with the US SEC, approximately 319 million shares could become available on August 20.

The scheduled unlock follows the company’s June public offering and the recent decline in SPCX stock. However, the filing only identifies the number of shares that could become available.

Cursor Deal Adds New SpaceX (SPCX) Equity
Against that market backdrop, SpaceX completed its acquisition of Cursor on August 14, 2026. SpaceX subsidiary X67 Inc. merged into Anysphere as part of the transaction.
