DTCC Validates Ripple’s Multi-Ledger Vision: Here’s Why XRP Could BenefitRipple’s long-term strategy is back in focus after the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) said the future of finance will not run on a single blockchain.

Instead, the world’s largest post-trade infrastructure provider expects multiple distributed ledgers to coexist, making interoperability one of the industry’s biggest priorities.

The statement closely matches Ripple’s vision from years ago. Rather than building for a world where one blockchain dominates, Ripple developed the Interledger Protocol (ILP) to connect separate payment networks while using XRP as a bridge asset for value transfer. Research discussing Ripple’s technology notes that the company recognized “the world will never agree on one Ledger” and built the open-source Interledger Protocol to solve that problem. Instead of asking banks, payment providers, and financial institutions to migrate onto the XRP Ledger, ILP allows different ledgers to communicate with one another.

The same research explains that Ripple later renamed the Ripple Ledger to the XRP Ledger to emphasize the importance of XRP, while many of the company’s enterprise products increasingly relied on ILP to connect payment systems across different networks.
