XORA Launches XRP Neobank
XORA, a custodial neobank built on the $XRP Ledger, has launched a platform that lets $XRP holders earn yield on their assets and spend them using a payment card. XORA is a digital banking platform for $XRP users and has been operating since February 2026.

The service is aimed at retail $XRP holders, who have traditionally had limited options beyond simply holding the token. Users can transfer $XRP from any wallet or exchange to a personal address on the $XRP Ledger and start earning rewards automatically. At launch, the platform offers a temporary annual yield of 15% paid in $XRP, plus an estimated 7% in XORA tokens for eligible balances.

XORA also says customer funds are held in segregated custodial accounts that can be verified on-chain through $XRP Ledger explorers. The platform performs daily balance checks, uses automated risk controls, and maintains a reserve fund supported by protocol revenue. The company notes that it is not a licensed bank and customer balances are not protected by government deposit insurance.

In the future, XORA plans to expand into a broader neobank ecosystem. The native XORA token will provide additional benefits, including premium cards, travel rewards, governance features, concierge banking services, and other financial products.

Bitcoin's Sharpe Ratio slides to lowest since 2022. Here's what it means.Bitcoin $BTC$62,867.66 has dropped by 28% so far this year, a brutal slide that looks even worse through the lens of the Sharpe Ratio, a metric professional investors use to determine what slice of their portfolio should be allocated to a specific asset.

The Sharpe Ratio is the gold standard for measuring risk-adjusted returns and was developed by Nobel Prize-winning economist William F. Sharpe.

Bitcoin's 365-day rolling Sharpe Ratio plummeted to -21 at the end of June, the lowest since late 2022, according to data source CryptoQuant. It was recently hovering just short of -20.

This deeply negative reading indicates that a bitcoin investor over the period took on extra market volatility while generating a return far worse than they could have earned on a risk-free investment, such as the 10-year U.S. Treasury note. The benchmark bond recently offered a yield of around 4.45%.

The Sharpe Ratio is calculated by subtracting the risk-free rate from the asset's total return over a specific period, then dividing the result by the asset's standard deviation (a measure of price volatility). A positive ratio means investors are being rewarded for taking the volatility risk. A negative ratio suggests they are being punished.

Professional investors don't just look at a coin's price relative to its long-term average to assess whether it's cheap. They use metrics such as the Sharpe Ratio to determine position sizing.

Imagine two coins: A and B. Coin A has fallen 30% from its recent high, but in a fairly steady way. Coin B has also fallen 30%, but its price is all over the place, jumping up and down by big percentages every day. Looking only at the drop from the high, both coins look equally “cheap.”

TradFi Trading Strategies Sharing Challenge

Ripple said Monday that Luxembourg upgraded its preliminary Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization under the European Union’s (EU) Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations to a full license. The approval clears Ripple to provide cryptoasset services throughout the European Economic Area (EEA).

“This CASP authorisation means Ripple enters the post-transitional MiCA era fully compliant and ready to scale,” said Cassie Craddock, the company's managing director for Europe and the U.K., in a statement.

The CASP license Ripple announced Monday makes the company one of a small number of digital asset firms to have full authorization under MiCA, which became law three years ago and came into full force on July 1. Crypto firms without a license must stop operating in the region. Ripple was granted a preliminary license in June.
