Fed Policy Expectations Drive Divergence Across Markets
Grayscale Investments is tying bitcoin’s lag behind equities to a repricing of Federal Reserve policy, arguing that bitcoin could narrow the performance gap with stocks if the Fed holds off on rate hikes. In a June 22 research note, the crypto asset manager said changing rate expectations have contributed to the divergence between equities, bitcoin, and gold.

U.S. equities have gained 9% since the start of the Iran war in late February, supported in part by sustained spending tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure and development, Grayscale detailed. Over the same period, bitcoin has fallen 1%, while gold has dropped 20%, creating one of the widest performance gaps among major macro assets.

Centralized Wall Street gatekeepers to control investors’ route into tokenized stocks through old pipes24X National Exchange's latest tokenized stock filing has put Wall Street's core plumbing at the forefront of the equity-tokenization race.

The exchange filed SR-24X-2026-20 on June 11, with the SEC issuing its notice on June 16 and the June 22 notice placing the filing in the Federal Register.

The rule change would let eligible 24X members trade certain securities in tokenized form during a Depository Trust Company pilot, according to the SEC's notice filing.

The filing frames tokenization as an upgrade to the national market system rather than a workaround. The model described by 24X keeps the exchange, DTC, participant eligibility, order-entry controls, and shareholder-rights protections in place.

The token layer changes how eligible positions can be represented and settled, while the legal identity of the share and the market structure around the trade stay intact.

The filing's answer is practical: tokenized stocks look like legacy market infrastructure adding a token wrapper.

The filing would amend 24X rules covering eligible securities, member access, order priority, and routing. The proposed structure would allow DTC Eligible Participants to trade tokenized versions of eligible equity securities and exchange-traded products on 24X during the DTC pilot.

The SEC notice says the securities would trade within the current national market system, using DTC to clear and settle trades in token form based on instructions selected when orders are entered.

That keeps tokenized equity activity connected to the same market architecture that governs ordinary exchange-traded shares.

U.S. Senate passes housing bill that carries four-year ban on a Fed CBDCThanks to the newly passed U.S. Senate housing affordability bill, the Federal Reserve may be heading toward a formal ban from instituting a digital dollar in the form of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), despite the fact the Fed wasn't working on such a project.

Republican politicians had embraced an aggressive opposition campaign against the U.S. following in European and Chinese footsteps in the pursuit of a CBDC, labeling the idea a dangerous overreach of government surveillance. So they insisted it get inserted into the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act that just passed the Senate in an 85-5 vote Monday night.

The concept of a digital dollar likely would have needed the backing of the White House, Congress and the Federal Reserve, none of which pushed to pursue one. But if the House of Representatives follows suit and votes to send the housing bill to President Donald Trump for his signature, the CBDC will be legally stifled.

However, the ban would only last for a very limited four years until the end of 2030.

The idea of a CBDC is that a nation or other jurisdiction's central bank issues and manages the activity of an asset that would be akin to a government stablecoin. The European Central Bank has been working on a digital euro that's set to get a pilot program next year and a full launch in 2029. China also pursued a digital yuan issued by the People's Bank of China.

In past remarks, former U.S. Fed Chair Jerome Powell had said that even were the Fed to consider a CBDC, it would have left the operation and management of it to banks, seeming to undermine the possibility of a financial police state described by Republican critics. But new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh had said during his nomination hearing that he fully opposed a U.S. CBDC, calling
