As high-cap assets reclaim key levels, investors are once again positioning for the market’s next move.

Ethereum is a prime example. After rallying 4.07% on the 15th of June, $ETH reclaimed $1.8k, posting its strongest single-day gain in two weeks.

The move came as broader market sentiment flipped back to risk-on, bringing renewed attention to whether the rally is being driven by speculative leverage or Spot demand.

On-chain and derivatives data suggest positioning is picking up. According to data from CryptoQuant, Ethereum open interest jumped 7.7%, marking its largest daily increase in a month.

Crypto markets held steady on Tuesday even as Japan lifted interest rates to a three-decade high amid rising domestic inflation.

The Bank of Japan’s policy board raised its benchmark interest rate to around 1% in a 7-1 vote, with the new guideline effective June 17. Policymakers flagged a risk of inflation rising above a 2% target as higher oil prices feed through to consumer goods, with further hikes expected.

A relief rally lifted crypto markets after President Trump announced a deal with Iran over the weekend, easing the tensions which the Bank of Japan had tied to rising oil prices. The deal moved Bitcoin above $65,000 from the low $60,000s. A signing is expected on Friday.

At time of publication, Bitcoin is trading around $66,000, down 1.1% on the day, per CoinGecko data. Traders on prediction market Myriad, owned by Decrypt’s parent company Dastan, remain predominantly bearish on its outlook, placing a 64% chance on Bitcoin’s next move taking it to $55,000.

Japan's economy has “recovered moderately” despite weakening factors tied to the Middle East, with strong corporate profits and a firmer job market cushioning the strain on activity, the central bank stated.

The country’s broader economy is expected to align with the “baseline scenario” for moderate growth, “albeit at a decelerated rate," the guidance reads, pointing at government measures to soften energy costs that could ease the risk of a sharp slowdown.

A Market Pushing Toward New Highs

Tokenized real-world assets, i.e. traditional financial instruments represented as blockchain tokens, now total roughly $31.76 billion in distributed value, according to figures circulating among onchain researchers. The tally has been setting records through 2026 as banks, asset managers and fintechs have moved government debt, credit and equities onto public networks.

Bitcoin.com News reported that the tokenized RWA market cap surged roughly 20-fold in three years to top $29 billion, a base it has since extended. The growth has been driven less by retail speculation than by institutions seeking faster settlement, programmable collateral and round-the-clock access to assets that traditionally trade only during market hours.

Circle and Blackrock Lead the Treasury Race

Tokenized Treasuries remain the engine of the sector with Circle’s USYC product pushing past $3 billion in value, edging Blackrock’s tokenized fund BUIDL, which sits around $2.4 billion. The latter had previously sought the SEC’s approval for the BUIDL fund on Ethereum, a milestone that helped legitimize tokenized money-market exposure for institutional allocators.

Beyond treasuries, the asset mix seems to be widening as private credit too has grown into one of the largest tokenized segments, and Bitcoin.com News reported that real-world assets on Solana crossed $2 billion as networks compete to host the new instruments. Tokenization infrastructure has also expanded across chains, with Securitize integrating with Tron to broaden distribution earlier this year.

Crypto India Outlook: INR Stablecoin Makes the Rupee Go Global – GetBit Founder Makes a Bold Prediction
India is likely to move toward a more balanced cryptocurrency regulatory framework in the coming years, according to GetBit Founder Abhay Agarwal, who believes the current tax structure was introduced during a period when policymakers were still trying to understand a rapidly evolving industry.

Speaking in an interview with Coinpedia, Abhay said the existing 30% tax on crypto gains remains high compared to most other asset classes, but emphasized that the larger challenge is the 1% Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) imposed on every crypto transaction.

“The 30% tax on gains is high compared to most other asset classes, but the bigger issue is the 1% TDS. It effectively acts as a liquidity tax and disproportionately impacts active market participants.”

According to Abhay, the current framework served its purpose by helping regulators monitor the sector. However, as regulatory visibility improves and the industry matures, he expects policymakers to revisit the tax structure. He believes a reduction in TDS is likely to be the first major change, potentially within the next two to four years.

Liquidity Migration Remains the Biggest Consequence

Discussing the impact of the 1% TDS, Abhay identified the migration of liquidity away from India as the most significant consequence.

He explained that financial markets function most efficiently when buyers and sellers can transact without excessive friction. The 1% TDS significantly increases trading costs, particularly for market makers and active participants, prompting a large share of trading activity to move offshore shortly after the rule was introduced.

Liquidity attracts talent, capital, entrepreneurs, developers, and investors. When liquidity leaves, the broader ecosystem suffers.”
