Multiple devs and founders have been talking publicly about concrete post‐quantum paths for Bitcoin. Two different proposals have caught the crypto world’s attention.

Bitcoin’s Net-Watchers Start Building Their Blackwall
The ticking clock marking 2029 as the possible “deadline” for quantum computers to be able to break Bitcoin and Ethereum’s cryptography has made devs roll up their sleaves and get to work.

The recent spike of the Bitcoin quantum-panic or “quantum FUD” (fear, uncertainty and doubt) has moved on from the initial chaos that ensued following Google’s “doomsday” whitepaper to a race against an enemy that doesn’t yet exist. In the past days, two Bitcoin devs landed at different proposals aimed to protect Bitcoin from the future threat of quantum attacks.

One of them consists in a “Taproot kill‐switch + zk‐proof recovery” path for existing UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs). The other is a QSB (Quantum Safe Bitcoin), a transaction‐level construction that makes individual spends quantum‐safe today without any soft fork (rule changes that stay compatible with old software).

Both approaches assume Shor‐style quantum computers (quantum computers based on Shor’s algorithm) will nuke the math behind Bitcoin’s current signatures (ECDSA/Schnorr), but they differ on how much of Bitcoin needs to change: consensus rules vs user‐level tooling.

Let’s examine both proposals closely.

The first solution comes from Olaoluwa Osuntokun, co‐founder and CTO of Lightning Labs (the main company building the Lightning Network implementation) and Tim Ruffing, co‐author and contributor on Schnorr/Taproot, multisignature schemes like MuSig2 and a maintainer of Bitcoin’s core elliptic‐curve library.

A postmortem from Steakhouse has shed new light on a 30 March security incident. Attackers briefly hijacked its domain to serve a phishing site, exposing a critical weakness in off-chain infrastructure rather than on-chain systems.

The team confirmed that the attack stemmed from a successful social engineering attempt targeting its domain registrar, OVHcloud. This allowed the attacker to bypass two-factor authentication and take control of DNS records.

Social engineering led to full account takeover
According to the report, the attacker contacted the registrar’s support desk, impersonated the account owner, and convinced a support agent to remove hardware-based two-factor authentication.

Once access was granted, the attacker rapidly executed a series of automated actions. This included deleting existing security credentials, enrolling new authentication devices, and redirecting DNS records to infrastructure under their control.

This enabled the deployment of a cloned Steakhouse website embedded with a wallet drainer, which remained intermittently accessible for roughly four hours.

Phishing site active, but funds remained safe
Despite the severity of the breach, Steakhouse stated that no user funds were lost and no malicious transactions were confirmed.

The compromise was limited to the domain layer. On-chain vaults and smart contracts, which operate independently of the frontend, were not affected. The protocol emphasized that it holds no admin keys that could access user deposits.

Browser wallet protections from providers such as MetaMask and Phantom quickly flagged the phishing site, while the team issued a public warning within 30 minutes of detecting the incident.

Postmortem highlights vendor risk and single points of failure
The report points to a key failure in Steakhouse’s security assumptions: reliance on a single registrar whose support processes could override hardware-based protections.

Bank-backed issuers dominate first approvals The first stablecoin licenses went to Anchorpoint Financial and HSBC's Hong Kong banking arm, both well-known TradFi players. Anchorpoint itself is backed by Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands, and HKT.

The initiative is happening under a new framework, led by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). Both entities are set to begin operations in the coming months.

Ethereum is showing a short term breakout setup, but the bigger chart still points to heavy resistance overhead. That leaves ETH at a key turning point, where a wedge breakout could lift momentum, yet the broader bearish structure stays active unless buyers clear the main invalidation level.

Ethereum Rally Still Looks Corrective as $2,402 Remains the Key Break Level

Ethereum’s four hour chart shared by Man of Bitcoin shows a rebound that still looks corrective rather than trend changing. The move is labeled as an A B C structure, with wave C pushing into a marked resistance zone but not yet breaking the key invalidation level. As a result, the broader bearish structure remains in place for now.

The chart shows the current rebound moving through several Fibonacci resistance levels. The price has already pushed above the 0.618 level near $2,205 and tested higher levels around $2,248, $2,281, and $2,306. However, the most important level on the chart sits higher at $2,402.34. According to this setup, only a break above that area would suggest a local bottom is in place.

That matters because the rally is still presented as wave 2 within a larger bearish count. In other words, the current move higher may only be a temporary recovery before another leg lower starts. The chart keeps that bearish roadmap active unless Ethereum clears the $2,402 area and weakens the current wave count.

Below the market, the chart still shows several downside zones if resistance holds. The first support band remains around $1,972 to $1,818. Below that, deeper downside markers appear near $1,755, $1,600, $1,550, and $1,387. These levels continue to frame the bearish scenario if the current rebound fails to break higher.

AMBCrypto previously reported that Hong Kong expanded its licensing regime to cover crypto dealers and custodians. This brought trading and asset storage under the same regulatory perimeter.

The announcement came after a delayed timeline
The HKMA had earlier stated that initial licenses could be issued as early as March. However, approvals only materialized in April.

This is in line with the regime itself, with its strict requirements on reserve backing, redemption mechanisms, governance, and AML controls. The framework also lays out enforcement powers, including fines and license revocations.

Institutions first, broader access later?
In the near term, Hong Kong’s stablecoin market is likely to remain held by institutional players. Limited licenses and stringent compliance thresholds will slow participation from crypto-native firms.

A $1,632 Valuation Model Built On Flow
XRP is currently trading around $1.30 to $1.33, down 64% from its all-time high of $3.65. However, this hasn’t deterred many members of the XRP community from touting bullish price levels.

This time, the bullish outlook is based on a calculator model that pushes the cryptocurrency into four-digit territory. The calculator is based on a valuation model developed by Susan Athey, a board member at Ripple, and Robert Mitchnick of Stanford Graduate School of Business, published in a paper titled A Fundamental Valuation Framework for Cryptoassets.

This calculator model uses a set of assumptions that influences how value is derived for XRP. The specific inputs that produced the $1,632 figure are $19 trillion in total estimated daily transaction volume, an average holding period of five days between transactions per XRP unit, $30 trillion in store-of-value demand, a five-year timeline to reach those volumes, and a 5% discount rate to bring the future value to present terms.

When these variables are combined and distributed across an estimated 60 billion circulating tokens, the result is a valuation that far exceeds anything seen in current market pricing.
