Bitcoin Bottom In? Analyst Defends $60K Level as Fed Liquidity Surges


A growing number of market commentators are reinforcing the idea that Bitcoin may have already established a cycle bottom at around $60,000.

Crypto analyst Astronomer on X has doubled down on his earlier call, arguing that the $60K region marked a decisive low for Bitcoin, with price action holding firm for over eight weeks despite persistent bearish expectations.

The analyst says his call that Bitcoin bottomed around $60K wasn’t based on just one signal, but several factors lining up. These included Fibonacci levels, mining cost data, and hash ribbon signals, all suggesting a strong support zone near $60K.

He also explained that this level is important because of past market behavior, especially a key price level from October 2021 that previously acted as a major turning point and attracted institutional interest.

According to him, big investors likely helped support prices around this area. Moreover, the current pattern of higher highs and higher lows suggests Bitcoin may now be recovering instead of continuing to fall.

Japan-based Metaplanet has now become the third-largest public firm holding Bitcoin. The ascent comes after the firm acquired 5,075 BTC, worth $405M, in Q1 2026, bringing its overall holdings to 40,177 BTC.

As of late 2025, Metaplanet held 35K BTC and ranked fourth. During that period, Bitcoin miner MARA ranked third with over 50K BTC. However, the miner offloaded over 15K BTC ($1.1 billion) in March, bringing its holdings to 38K BTC.

Collectively, the two factors led MARA to lose the third spot to Metaplanet.

Metaplanet’s 2026-2027 plan

But Metaplanet’s broader plan and long-term goal are way larger. The firm aims to acquire 210K BTC by 2027.

In 2026 alone, it plans to scale its holdings to 100K BTC. Put differently, in the remaining three quarters, it could add an extra 60K BTC.

At current prices, this would imply about $3.96 billion in needed capital to fund the 2026 deficit.

For the 5,075 BTC bought in Q1, the firm said the bid was funded by “capital market activities and operating income.” In fact, last month the firm raised $275 million, with an option to increase it to $531 million through selling its stock.

Even so, this was still short of the nearly $4B needed to hit the 2026 target. Additionally, its Bitcoin revenue, generated from selling Bitcoin Options contracts and lending and borrowing against its holdings, hit $18.9 million in Q1.

Taken together, this would bring overall funds to $550M in Q1. Still, this implied a shortfall of $3.5B to hit the 100K BTC milestone this year.

That said, Metaplanet’s ascent to the third spot has not been a smooth sail. The firm’s current BTC holdings now face an unrealized loss of $1.5 billion.

Notably, the next wave appears to be forming with Charles Schwab. For context, Charles Schwab manages nearly $12 trillion in client assets and plans to launch Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum [ETH] trading this quarter, while already offering early access through its “Schwab Crypto” waitlist.

The market reaction was immediate, with many viewing the move as a key milestone in integrating crypto into traditional brokerage platforms. In simple terms, brokerage platforms will now integrate crypto directly into the same investment ecosystem investors use for stocks, ETFs, and long-term portfolio management.

Naturally, the impact on Bitcoin and Ethereum could be substantial, especially considering Charles Schwab manages nearly $12 trillion in client assets. This raises a broader question – With SoFi Bank and Charles Schwab stepping into crypto, is “FOMO” now acting as the real bridge between TradFi and DeFi, signaling the second phase of DeFi expansion?

With BTC’s price compressed below $70,000 and almost 50% away from its October 2025 all-time high of over $126,000, the overall sentiment within the cryptocurrency community remains deeply negative.

The ongoing war and uncertainty about the fate of the CLARITY Act are also contributing to investors’ grim outlook, but the analysts from Santiment recently revealed that this could be a blessing in disguise.

The analytics company has long been a proponent of Warren Buffett’s immortal advice for investors – be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy. Santiment has explicitly reaffirmed this thesis for the cryptocurrency industry, which is particularly susceptible to overblown emotions.

In the latest post on the matter, the analysts acknowledged that social media platforms such as X, Reddit, Telegram, and others have shown the “highest ratio of bearish discussions (fear) since February 28th” for bitcoin. At the time, the US and Israel first struck Iran, beginning what has now become a prolonged war.

The company added that “FUD has crept back in with the community showing a key lack of optimism,” as social media indicated that this weekend’s ratio of just 0.81 bullish comments per 1.00 bearish ones is “the lowest” since the war began. However, Santiment believes this is “usually a common ingredient for prices rebounding.”

“Remember that markets typically move the opposite direction of the crowd’s expectations. So even with ongoing “what-ifs” that are impacting the market’s ceiling right now (such as the Iran war and Clarity Act), a high level of FUD like this is a good sign that things can turn positive sooner rather than later.”

Ethereum has spent the better part of recent months losing ground to Bitcoin, and this underperformance may now be approaching a turning point, at least according to a new technical outlook shared by crypto analyst CrediBULL Crypto. The technical analysis shows that the ETH/BTC pair is no longer breaking down and is now quietly settling down at a level that has always led to sell-off exhaustion in the pair.

ETH/BTC Holds Range Lows As Selling Pressure Fades
The ETH/BTC 12-hour chart tells a story that has been unfolding since July 2025 and is now nearing a completion. The ETH/BTC chart shows a pair that has spent recent months grinding lower before finally reaching a support zone. As shown in the chart below, the ETH/BTC ratio has been in a sustained decline for the past few years from a peak near 0.0420 in mid-2025, which the analyst labels as wave 5 of a completed five-wave impulse.

The ratio worked its way down through a series of lower highs and lower lows throughout the second half of 2025 and January 2026. However, it has been compressed between February and March into what looks like a macro support zone between approximately 0.02143 and 0.02626.

This support was noted by CrediBULL Crypto as being important in this context, with the analyst pointing out with confidence that the ETH/BTC pair is bottoming here and is in a final stage preceding a true breakout from the current range.
