Scarcity has always been one of the strongest market drivers for risk-on moves.

That said, it’s rarely an instant catalyst. The process takes time, tests patience, and forces the market to prove conviction. In other words, scarcity doesn’t immediately impact price action. Instead, it quietly builds a support base until real demand steps in. That’s usually when markets transition into parabolic runs.

A clear example is Bitcoin’s [BTC] 2020 cycle. The Bitcoin halving cut new BTC issuance from 12.5 to 6.25 BTC per block, tightening supply. Around the same time, Strategy [MSTR] started accumulating BTC, while global central banks flooded markets with liquidity after the COVID-19 shock. Now, market participants are speculating that Ethereum [ETH] may be setting up along a similar path.

Technically, if ETH mirrors this setup, the structure supports a potential parabolic expansion.

In 2020, Bitcoin finished the cycle up roughly 305%, breaking into a new all-time high above $20k for the first time. The halving created the initial supply shock, but the real parabolic move started once large treasury bids entered the market and aggressively absorbed available supply, accelerating price discovery.

In this context, Ethereum’s consolidation around the $2k level starts to carry greater significance. The key question now is whether a similar supply dynamic is quietly forming beneath the asset. If so, could ETH replicate a Bitcoin-style 2020 parabolic expansion once markets shift back into a risk-on environment?

Is the worst still yet to come for crypto?

From a technical standpoint, the market is officially rolling into Q2. However, to see where it’s headed, we need to check where it’s been. Q1 closed with the total crypto market cap down nearly 21%, extending losses from Q4 2025 when it fell by about 24%.

In just six months, crypto has technically lost over $1.5 trillion. Bitcoin [BTC] hasn’t been spared either, making up 60% of those outflows – A sign that it’s lagging compared to other volatile assets. Backing this, the XAU/BTC ratio closed Q1 up almost 40%, underlining BTC’s relative weakness versus gold.

In short, despite recent optimism around Bitcoin’s “relative” resilience, Q1 revealed crypto was still the weakest performer across asset classes. Against this backdrop, a recent post by U.S President Donald Trump couldn’t have come at a more critical time.

In it, President Trump sounded a warning about a potentially severe attack on Iran’s infrastructure, putting ceasefire expectations on hold. However, more than the content, it’s the “timing” of the post that’s sparked a full-blown market frenzy. Notably, the U.S stock market will remain closed over the weekend, which means the post has temporarily prevented a liquidation cascade.

The real momentum shift, however, is in oil prices. Even before the post, oil had been rattling global markets. Now, the added geopolitical risk layers in more uncertainty. Traders and investors are likely to react as soon as the market reopens, making Monday a highly volatile session for equities. Shiba Inu's technical indicators are currently sending mixed signals with a recent golden cross overturned by double death cross signals.

Shiba Inu saw a golden cross on the three-hour chart in mid-March as the price showed indications of recovery. This, however, did not last. Any efforts Shiba Inu made to bounce back proved fruitless.

The golden cross, a fleeting signal, had momentarily suggested a potential upturn, sparking optimism about a surge in buying.

However, the market sentiment changed with bears gaining the upper hand. This was followed by two death cross signals forming on the three-hour chart.

The brief period following the first death cross had Shiba Inu's price climb. This was only temporarily as short-term momentum remained weak. This mixed signal might suggest the current market uncertainty.

As of this writing, $SHIB had dipped 2.22% over the past day, trading at $0.000005895, though it was up 1% on the week.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin [BTC] traded near $66,000 after declining over the past week, pressured by tightening macroeconomic conditions and persistent geopolitical uncertainty weighing on risk assets.

Are speculative traders exiting the market?
The Bitcoin Fund Flow Ratio, which tracks network activity relative to exchange flows, indicates that the market is at a decisive point.

The metric stood at 0.065 at press time, a level that historically acts as a pivot for price direction.

This range has often served as a support zone, where Bitcoin stabilizes before initiating a bullish reversal. Similar patterns emerged between late 2017 and early 2018, and again in 2019, 2020, and 2023.

The case for a potential rebound rests on declining speculative activity and improving supply dynamics on exchanges. With fewer speculative trades and more stable supply conditions, the market structure begins to favor a bullish setup.

However, the Fund Flow Ratio is not fixed at this level. A move lower would shift the outlook, opening the door to continued distribution.

In that scenario, increased selling activity and renewed speculative pressure could extend Bitcoin’s downside.

Bitcoin fees point to cooling activity
Additional on-chain indicators reinforce the possibility of a rebound, although they also highlight weakening participation.

Bitcoin transaction fees, measured in USD, have fallen to one of their lowest levels in six years.

This decline mirrors conditions last seen in 2022, just before Bitcoin staged a notable recovery.

Low transaction fees typically reflect reduced on-chain demand, as fewer participants actively transact.

In short, when you compare network activity to market performance, Solana’s fundamentals remain strong. That kind of divergence usually points to undervaluation, hinting that SOL could be gearing up for a rebound.

The real story, though, is stablecoin flows. Naturally, the big question is – Could liquidity be the main FOMO trigger for SOL this cycle?
