Bitcoin has also slipped to around $75,419, down about 2.27% in the past 24 hours. Despite this short-term weakness, a notable development is emerging on the mining side of the network.
A decentralized mining pool called Parasite, known for its “plebs eat first” philosophy, has successfully mined its second Bitcoin block. While this may seem like a small technical event, it carries broader symbolic weight.
The project is part of a growing push toward greater decentralization in Bitcoin mining. Over the years, concerns have increased about mining power becoming too concentrated in a few large players. Moves like this represent an attempt to push back against that trend and reinforce Bitcoin’s original decentralized vision.
With the total crypto market cap under pressure at around $2.63 trillion, these underlying shifts matter more than they might appear at first glance.
While the price action remains weak in the short term, developments in network structure and mining distribution are being closely watched. They could play a role in shaping Bitcoin’s long-term resilience and overall market stability.

Is Tether’s $1B Ethereum mint early signal for stronger Q2 activity?

Shifting stablecoin flows across Layer-1s are something investors watch closely. 

The logic is simple: More liquidity means more room for capital rotation. More importantly for DeFi, it strengthens a chain’s role as a settlement layer, locking in its position as core infra for decentralized flow.

According to DeFiLlama data, something similar is unfolding now. USDT supply is split almost evenly across Ethereum (44.34%) and Tron (45.57%), leaving a very tight gap between the two.

In that context, Tether minting $1 billion USDT on Ethereum [ETH] meaningfully tilts liquidity weight back toward ETH rails.

USDT monthly supply growth on TRON [TRX] has been up 0.44% versus Ethereum’s 3.19%, narrowing the gap further. But beyond that divergence, the real signal is on-chain activity.

AMBCrypto recently noted that Ethereum saw over 200 million in transaction volume in Q1, marking its busiest quarter yet.

But zooming out on stablecoin flows, this isn’t a one-off move. USDC usage on Ethereum hit an all-time high in March, with monthly volume surpassing $1.8 trillion, while Tether’s USAT saw a 714% market cap jump in a single month.

In short, strong stablecoin inflows have directly fed into Ethereum’s on-chain activity.

That naturally brings us to the $1 billion recently minted by Tether.

Is this an early signal of a similar network shift for Ethereum’s Q2 usage, further strengthening its role in the DeFi ecosystem? Notably, looking at broader factors, the impact looks like it goes well beyond DeFi.

For years, $NEO's treasury was held in a setup that would be unusual for most financial institutions: hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto assets were controlled through personal wallets, with no multisig protections and little formal oversight.

That person, according to co-founder Da Hongfei, is Erik Zhang, $NEO's other co-founder and the architect of its core protocol.

"Around 85% is controlled by Eric alone with single signature," Da said in an interview. "It had never been transferred to any individual or any multi-sig." The native $NEO and $GAS tokens Zhang holds are currently worth between $200 million and $250 million, Da estimated. That's more than $NEO's current $197 million market capitalization.

Zhang, for his part, has accused Da of separate problems. The two founders have been airing those disputes in public since December.

The fight has since produced rival governance plans and an unsuccessful mediation effort in Hong Kong.

Da published his restructuring proposal on GitHub on April 9. It calls for redomiciling the Neo Foundation from Singapore to the Cayman Islands, replacing the current two-founder governance with an independent five-member board, barring both founders from that board for 24 months, and redistributing roughly 26 million $NEO and 40 million $GAS to tokenholders.

Zhang's counter-proposal called staying on the board keeping the Foundation in Singapore, not move it to the Cayman Islands.

Most pointedly, Zhang's proposal calls for a formal investigation into historical asset management, including provisions to address potential corruption, improper asset transfers, and concealment of public assets.

How XRP Holders Can Earn Yields Through XLS-66 Amendment
In an X post, James noted that, contrary to what XRP holders may think, the XLS-66 amendment is not just about depositing one’s tokens and collecting interest. Instead, it is a structured, institutional lending protocol in which investors’ yields accrue within the single-asset vault and are realized only when they choose to redeem their deposits.

As such, the XLS-66 amendment won’t give XRP holders automatic payments or dividends. Instead, they receive an MPT token, which represents the altcoin they deposited into the vault. These MPT shares grow in redemption value over time. James noted that the borrowers aren’t retail investors but banks, market makers, fintechs, and payment providers borrowing short-term working capital on neutral rails.

As such, holders are not lending their capital to strangers. Instead, they are participating alongside institutions in the same transparent on-chain pools. He added that the redeem-and-deploy cycle across multiple vaults is how they manage risk and realize periodic income without locking everything up indefinitely.

How The Vaults Operate
Pundit Bodhi had also broken down how the XLS-66 amendment works and how holders can enjoy yields from these single asset vaults. He noted that as borrowers repay their loans, they repay both the principal and the interest. The interest remains in the vault and increases the pool’s total XRP holdings. This causes the redemption value of each MPT to rise over time.
