Quantum computing continues to pose a threat to Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins, and action needs to be taken in this regard.

While there is no clear consensus on this issue, the latest report comes from the crypto infrastructure firm StarkWare.

StarkWare analysts have introduced what they describe as the first practical technology to defend Bitcoin against quantum computing attacks without making any changes to the network.

Accordingly, StarkWare has unveiled a Quantum Secure Bitcoin (QSB) proposal that would enable quantum-resistant transactions without altering the Bitcoin network.

This new proposal claims that it’s possible to make Bitcoin transactions resistant to quantum effects without the need for a soft fork.

However, due to its high cost and complex user experience, it may face a limited adoption rate; the proposal states that it should be used as a “last resort”.

Because each transaction is estimated to cost between $75 and $200, this approach is considered commercially unfeasible.

StarkWare researcher Avihu Levy says the proposal’s core idea is to replace Bitcoin’s current Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) with hash-based proofs that would be difficult to imitate, even with a quantum computer.

Levy added that the biggest advantage of the QSB method is that it provides immediate results.

“QSB’s biggest advantage is that it delivers instant results. Because it operates within Bitcoin’s existing consensus rules, it doesn’t require a soft fork, miner confirmation, or activation timeline.”

The New York Times investigation conducted by John Carreyrou has sparked mixed reactions within the community on the person behind the asset class. The French-American journalist claimed that the British cryptographer who created HashCash has striking similarities to Satoshi. According to him, Back was an early researcher in cryptography and electronic cash, focusing on growing privacy concerns.Back was also cited in Satoshi's Bitcoin white paper before he disappeared. Coincidentally, Back also vanished before reappearing after Satoshi left. This is highly circumstantial, but the crypto community continues to rehash sentiments that Back could be the founder. Furthermore, Carreyrou argued that Back shares similar writing and sentence structure features with Satoshi. He cited formatting, hyphenation, and general language similarities. In a 1999 message, Back explained that electronic money is a win as long as it is cheaper than fiat. In 2009, Satoshi wrote on Bitcoin's energy use, adding that it would be less wasteful than the conventional banking activity it would replace. Among the researchers who posted on Cryptography and Hashcash, only Back referenced WebMoney in addition to hyphenating proof-of-work. Bitcoin's rally is still just a bear market bounce unless it reclaims this key level

Glassnode says bitcoin remains inside a bear-market value zone, with near-term support around $69,000-$71,500 but a more credible recovery only above $81,600. Bitcoin (BTC) moved from roughly $67,000 to $72,000 in the days surrounding the US-Israel-Iran ceasefire announcement, a 7.5% rebound that reduced volatility and lifted sentiment across risk assets.

Glassnode's Apr. 8 Week On-chain report noted that the bounce and stabilization still fit the fingerprint of a bear market rebound. BTC still trades inside a bear market value zone, and the level that would genuinely flip the picture is $81,600.

That number is the Short-Term Holder Cost Basis, which is the aggregate breakeven price for Bitcoin bought in recent months. Glassnode identifies it as the line the market needs to reclaim before rallies can plausibly represent a durable move.
