Cashing Out the Cycle: What Long-Term Bitcoin Holders Are Doing With Their ProfitsBitcoin's run from sub-$30,000 in early 2023 to $126,198 in October 2025 produced a category of holder the previous cycle barely had at scale: the long-term holder sitting on multi-year gains who is no longer interested in compounding them on-chain. Some have already realized those gains. Others are watching the current $81,000 print and asking whether the next sensible move is to cash out.

That second question, what to do with crypto wealth once you’ve decided not to keep all of it in crypto, has produced a quiet pattern across this cycle. A growing share of realized profits are not flowing into other tokens, equities, or property. They are flowing into operating businesses. Service businesses, in particular.

The Profit-Taking Question
The on-chain data has been clear for several months. Long-term holder distribution accelerated through the back half of 2025, with on-chain analysts tracking sustained net selling from wallets that had been dormant for years. The retrace from October’s all-time high to current levels, a roughly 35 percent drawdown, has tested newer holders far more than it has the cohort that bought below $40,000 and is still comfortably in profit.

For that cohort, the practical question is no longer “how high does this go.” It is “what fraction of this should remain in BTC, and where does the rest go.” Cash sitting in a savings account loses to inflation. Equities are a competing risk asset. Real estate is illiquid and yield-suppressed in most major markets. The remaining option, and the one a non-trivial number of crypto holders are now choosing, is buying into or building a working business.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) non-fungible tokens are surging again, fueling hopes of a broader revival in the battered $NFT market as speculative appetite returns across crypto.

Floor prices, or the lowest value for the flagship Yuga Labs collection, have climbed from around 5 $ETH to 10 $ETH over the past month, while apecoin (APE), the ecosystem’s governance token, has also rallied from below $0.10 to about $0.16 with a sharp increase in trading volumes.



The rebound comes as memecoins and other high-risk crypto assets are outperforming more defensive sectors such as decentralized finance (DeFi), suggesting retail traders are perhaps returning to the market after months of subdued activity.

For Yuga Labs' newly appointed CEO, Michael Figge, the rally reflects more than short-term hype.

“It’s clear from the numbers that for some time, as far as blue-chip digital collectibles go, it was oversold,” Figge told CoinDesk in an interview. “You had this huge compression in price, but if you actually look at an overlay graph, unique holders were actually up.”

Figge, who has held various executive roles at Yuga Labs since 2022, before taking over as CEO last month, argued that $NFT prices had become disconnected from user participation during the prolonged downturn.

The market is currently exhibiting a textbook rotation phase.

On the technical side, Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D) has logged four straight days of downside pressure after its early May breakout to 61.2%. At the same time, the Altcoin Season Index has jumped by more than 10 points in less than 24 hours, reinforcing a classic BTC-to-altcoin rotation setup.

Historically, however, altcoin rallies rarely sustain momentum unless Ethereum [ETH], the largest altcoin, starts gaining strength against Bitcoin [BTC], allowing deeper capital to flow across the broader altcoin market.

As the chart below shows, the ETH/BTC ratio has rebounded around 0.7% after four consecutive weeks of decline. This could be an early sign that rotation might be expanding beyond Bitcoin.

Has Donald Trump been a net positive for Bitcoin or created an unbreakable partisan divide?
Has Donald Trump been net positive for Bitcoin? It is an uncomfortable question for many Bitcoin supporters, including me.

My political criticisms of Trump are substantial and longstanding. They extend well beyond policy disagreements into questions about rhetoric, institutional conduct, and the broader political culture surrounding his presidency.

None of that disappears because Bitcoin performed well during parts of his administration or because parts of the industry now view him as an ally. Still, the question matters because Bitcoin increasingly sits inside state policy, capital markets, and geopolitical competition.

Once that happened, separating political preference from analytical judgment became harder. The reason the question deserves a serious answer is simple: no modern U.S. president has moved Bitcoin closer to formal government recognition than Trump.

That does not automatically make him “good for Bitcoin” in a complete sense. Price appreciation alone is insufficient. Campaign rhetoric is insufficient. Political branding is insufficient.

The real test is whether Bitcoin has become more institutionally durable, more legally defensible, and more difficult for future governments to marginalize.

On that narrower question, the evidence is stronger than many critics like me want to admit.

Pi Network's native token was rejected once again this week as concerns about its future mount.
Bitcoin’s price rebounded impressively from the dip to $79,000 on Friday and, although the volatility has remained mostly muted, it managed to climb gradually to $81,000 yesterday.

Most altcoins have turned red on a daily scale after the Saturday gains, but ETH, XRP, and BNB managed to remain above their key respective support levels.

BTC Tapped $81K

The business week began with substantial price volatility for the primary cryptocurrency, which rose past $80,000 on Monday for the first time since late January before it dumped to $78,400 after some reports that Iran had hit a US Navy vessel. However, the attacks were refuted by the US, and BTC quickly reclaimed the $80,000 level.

Moreover, the bulls stepped on the gas pedal in the following couple of days and pushed the asset to a new three-month peak at almost $83,000. After gaining $8,000 in a week or so, bitcoin was due for a correction and slipped to $79,000 on Friday.

Nevertheless, it bounced after that dip and reclaimed $80,000 yesterday after US President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. It even reached $81,000 briefly, but couldn’t stay there and now remains inches below that level.
Its market cap remains above $1.610 trillion on CG, while its dominance over the alts is north of 58%.
