A UK lawmaker has asked the financial authorities to investigate Nigel Farage’s promotion of a Bitcoin (BTC) treasury firm, raising concerns about potential market abuse and conflicts of interest due to the politician’s potential ties to the crypto industry.

Farage’s Stack BTC Video Prompts Scrutiny
On Monday, UK Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper asked the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) CEO, Nikhil Rathi, to investigate Reform UK leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Nigel Farage over his ties to the crypto industry.

In the letter, the lawmaker highlighted Farage’s recent appearance in a promotional video for crypto treasury firm Stack BTC, in which he is also an investor, showing him purchasing roughly £2 million in Bitcoin.

As reported by Bitcoinist, the Reform UK leader bought 37 BTC, worth around $2.7 million, on Monday on behalf of the company, becoming the first sitting British MP and party leader to publicly back Bitcoin, Stack BTC noted.

Despite the triumph for crypto in British Politics, Cooper considers that Farage’s Bitcoin promotion, alongside his repeated support for digital assets, “raises extremely serious questions about potential market abuse, a conflict of interest, and exposure of ordinary people to financial harm.”

The lawmaker highlighted Farage’s campaigns to expand the use of digital assets in the UK, including establishing a Bitcoin reserve fund, reducing capital gains tax on crypto assets from 24% to 10%, and enacting legal safeguards to prevent banks from terminating accounts associated with digital currency transactions.

“Taken together, these facts beg the question whether Mr Farage is promoting cryptocurrencies through his political platform in order to inflate crypto values for his own financial benefit, as well as that of his party and his inner circle of donors,” Cooper argued.

Bitcoin hits ‘near-term selling pressure’ after rally to $76K: CryptoQuant


Bitcoin deposits to crypto exchanges surged on Tuesday as it rallied above $76,000, suggesting it is hitting “near-term selling pressure” as investors move their coins into a position for sale, according to CryptoQuant.

In a report on Wednesday, CryptoQuant said the size and rate of Bitcoin ($BTC) inflows to exchanges have increased since the rally, with hourly inflows spiking to 11,000 $BTC, the highest since December.

CryptoQuant said it is a “historically reliable warning signal of near-term selling pressure, as holders move coins to exchanges in preparation for potential distribution at key resistance zones.”

It added that the average deposit size also increased to 2.25 $BTC, the highest since July 2024, and similar to January, when average deposits peaked at 2 $BTC before the price nearly halved from $100,000 to $60,000.

Crypto investors have been hoping for a Bitcoin rally as the war in Iran appears to be de-escalating. However, a large shift of Bitcoin into crypto exchanges could suggest any rally would be short-lived.

TradingView shows Bitcoin hit $76,052 on Coinbase on Tuesday, securing its highest price since early February.

However, CryptoQuant said that as Bitcoin nears its $76,800 realized price, it will act “as a ceiling for relief rallies,” and traders who are nearing breakeven on their holdings will be “incentivized to sell, capping further upside.”

It added that Bitcoin’s rally in January was capped as it hit its realized price at the time, which caused prices to reverse, and “the same dynamic may repeat if selling pressure builds from current levels.”

The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ($BTC), has been experiencing a surge in recent days, influenced by the ceasefire talks between the US and Iran.

After rising above $76,000, $BTC, as it has for a long time, encountered resistance and was rejected, falling back to the $74,000 level.

While bullish expectations continue due to $BTC’s recent movements, one analyst has warned of a major drop.

At this point, popular analyst Ali Martinez said that Bitcoin is at a critical juncture.

According to Martinez, Bitcoin has once again tested the 100-day moving average (SMA), which is considered a significant resistance level.

Sharing his latest analysis from account X, the analyst stated that for the third time in the last six months, $BTC has retested the 100-day SMA level on the daily chart as a resistance point.

He added that $BTC absolutely needs to hold the $73,000 level to sustain its upward momentum.

The analyst noted that the market failed to hold this level twice, once in October last year and again in January this year, and said that if it doesn’t break this resistance permanently this time, further declines could occur.

Martinez warned that a failure of the current retest could form a triple top pattern. This pattern could potentially send the Bitcoin price back to its all-time low of $59,000.

Conversely, if $BTC breaks this resistance and establishes a sustained position above the 100-day SMA, the price could rise to the $80,000-$84,000 range, he stated.

At the same time, some capital has rotated into traditional markets like equities and commodities, which have delivered strong returns recently.
In the short term, crypto remains heavily influenced by macro factors—oil prices, the U.S. dollar, and inflation expectations continue to shape sentiment.
But zoom out, and a bigger shift is unfolding:
This may not be a retail-driven cycle. It may be an institutional one.
That has real implications:
• Slower, more structured market moves
• Less hype-driven volatility
• More capital flowing through regulated channels

This isn’t the absence of a bull market—
it’s a bull market that retail hasn’t fully shown up for… yet.

Bitcoin [$BTC] exchange reserves have dropped massively, and Spot retail activity is close to recent lows. Regardless of it all, $BTC traders may have reason to believe.

Here’s why.

$BTC exchange reserves fall, retail demand weak

On one hand, exchange reserves across all exchanges have been in freefall, down to 2.683 million $BTC at the latest reading. That’s one of the lowest reserve levels seen in recent months, down from close to 3 million $BTC in late April-May 2025.

There are fewer coins on exchanges, so no one’s in a rush to sell.

At the same time, price has recovered from the early February dip. Supply is getting tighter.

But here’s where things get interesting. Spot retail activity, seen through the trading frequency surge, is the weakest it’s been in the last year. After peaking when Bitcoin traded at the ATH range, retail participation fell and hasn’t shown any muscle since.

Bull score rebounds to 40!

Put all that against Bitcoin’s Bull Score Index. The latest reading showed nearly 40, which is the highest number since October 2025.

That’s a big improvement from the weaker numbers of earlier this year, when the score briefly went toward the lower end of the scale.

The recovery isn’t over. Readings above 60 have so far come with bullish phases, particularly during $BTC’s rallies toward the $90K-$120K range in 2024 and 2025.

There’s a clear contrast with the falling exchange reserves above. While supply conditions improve, the pace is yet to fully return. So, $BTC may be moving out of its weaker phase, even if we can only see a transition rather than a full-blown breakout.

Bull Score needs to reclaim the 60+ levels in the sessions ahead for $BTC to properly rise.

CoW Protocol prices continue to be under pressure over the last 24 hours as the project grappled with fallout from a security incident on April 14. Crypto dropped by nearly 3% to trade at approximately $0.213. Yet that drop was while the global crypto market was on the rise, even as Bitcoin modestly gained.

The divergence illustrates a palpable change in sentiment on the protocol in the wake of the hack. The downturn was set in motion by a front-end attack that attacked the platform’s website. In the last statement release, it was reported that an attacker gained control over the cow.fi domain via DNS hijacking.

This lets the attacker then take users down the path to a malicious interface that had a close match to the original site to redirect them to a similar site. The device had been set up to deceive users into agreeing to approve malicious transactions or revealing sensitive wallet information. Only days after the problem was exposed, the squad put out a public alert.

Users were told to avoid interacting with the platform’s front-end. However, the protocol was also paused as a precautionary measure. The team assured that both the core smart contracts and backend systems were not compromised. Still, the attack carried a significant risk since it attacked the interface that users use to interact with the protocol.

The incident was flagged early by Blockaid, a firm that monitors decentralized applications for suspicious activity. Its detection system identified unusual behavior linked to the cow.fi domain. Shortly after, the protocol confirmed the issue and urged users to stay away until further notice. This quick response helped limit wider damage, even though the event still affected market confidence.
