According to DeFiLlama data, Ethereum’s share of total DeFi TVL dropped from 63.5% at the start of 2025 to roughly 54% this month, marking one of the network’s weakest dominance levels in years.

DeFiLlama currently values Ethereum’s total value locked at approximately $45.4 billion, far ahead of most competing blockchains.However, other networks are rapidly absorbing market share by focusing on specialized use cases across the crypto ecosystem. Current DeFi TVL market share now stands at:

Solana: 6.66%
BNB: 6.60%
Bitcoin ecosystem: 6.35%
TRON: 6.17%
Base: 5.44%
Hyperliquid ecosystem: 1.81%
This shift suggests DeFi is evolving from a single Ethereum-centered ecosystem into a multi-chain market where each blockchain focuses on specific sectors like stablecoins, perpetual trading, Bitcoin collateral, or consumer applications.

Ethereum Whales Are Selling
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez also pointed to a major shift happening among Ethereum whales.

According to Martinez, wallets holding between 1,000 and 10,000 $ETH have significantly reduced their holdings since October 2025.

This whale cohort previously accumulated aggressively during 2025, growing holdings from approximately 12.95 million $ETH in April 2025 to 15.95 million $ETH by October 2025

However, whale behavior later reversed sharply. Their combined holdings have now dropped to roughly 12.52 million $ETH, representing a decline of approximately 21.5%.

This large supply reduction suggests Ethereum may need stronger institutional and retail demand to fully sustain another major rally toward the important $3,000 level.

XRP Ledger Activates Default-Enabled Amendment in Major Network Update

The XRP Ledger Foundation announced the official launch of rippled version 3.1.3.

The update includes a “default-yes” amendment, eliminating the need for manual voting processes.

Institutions such as JPMorgan and Mastercard recently completed a cross-border Treasury bond redemption in less than five seconds.

The XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed this Friday that version 3.1.3 of its core software is ready, designed to strengthen the operability of the XRP Ledger network. This update is presented as a critical technical measure for node operators and validators within the ecosystem.

While other updates require prolonged consensus, version 3.1.3 integrates a fix amendment that is activated by default. The foundation reported that this mechanism allows the improvement to be implemented automatically following the software update by network participants.

In particular, no manual voting is required for this amendment, according to the developers. However, infrastructure operators have been invited to migrate to the new version as quickly as possible. They seek to prevent servers from becoming “amendment blocked,” a situation that occurs when a node does not recognize the protocol’s updated rules.

That observation makes the divergence between Bitcoin and Ethereum considerably more significant. Bitcoin regained institutional confidence relatively quickly — fund holdings expanded by 92,000 BTC while the price rebuilt from its lows. Ethereum has not seen the same dynamic. Fund holdings declined even as the broader market recovered, reflecting a hesitation that the price action has mirrored.

The report’s explanation for that hesitation is structural rather than speculative. Bitcoin has consolidated its identity as the macro reserve asset of the crypto ecosystem — the deepest liquidity, the most developed ETF infrastructure, and the cleanest institutional framework for allocation. Ethereum occupies a different position in the institutional risk hierarchy. During periods of uncertainty, funds have shown a consistent tendency to reduce ETH exposure first while maintaining or rebuilding Bitcoin positions as the comparatively safer allocation.

Recently, Dogecoin’s [$DOGE] price was at the risk of facing a setback after weeks of upward momentum. However, the $0.088 support level was defended throughout April, and $DOGE managed to rally past $0.10 from this support.

AMBCrypto had warned that $0.117 was the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level, and could see a sustained bearish move. However, over the past 24 hours, the leading memecoin gained by 4.5% after briefly descending from $0.117 to $0.105.

Will the higher timeframe downtrend take control in the coming days? Or is this a sign that the bulls have overcome the rejection and may be ready to make new highs?

The swing structure on the weekly chart of Dogecoin was bullish. The swing low and high at $0.08 and $0.484, respectively, were made during the 2024 bull run. The memecoin was unable to maintain the same pace in 2025, when Bitcoin [BTC] set new all-time highs.

The rally in 2025, which came from the demand zone around the 78.6% level at $0.166, only reached $0.3 before falling lower once more. This amounted to a weak reaction from a key Fibonacci retracement level.

Therefore, though the higher timeframe swing structure was bullish, it did not exhibit strength from the buyers.

Data reveals the largest drop in Bitcoin wallet numbers since the summer of 2024. Approximately 272,000 small (individual) investor wallets have been emptied in the last six days.

Santiment interprets this situation as “individual investors exiting the market,” while noting that large shareholders (whales) are currently holding back and not accumulating wealth.

In contrast to the greed surrounding Bitcoin, Ethereum is dominated by more fear (FUD). According to the analysis firm, this could create a “sneaky buying opportunity” for Ethereum if Bitcoin maintains its current levels.

XRP’s waning price performance seems to have finally influenced the network’s activity, which has seen a notable cooldown in the month of May. Just a few days into May, the network is struggling to attract new wallet addresses. After over a year, new addresses have fallen to one of their lowest levels.

New XRP Addresses Drop Dramatically
The XRP network’s activity and its price are starting to move toward the same negative direction. While the recent momentum in price is slowly fading away, user growth across the network appears to have sharply cooled down.

The slowdown is a result of a significant drop in the number of new wallet addresses created on the network. According to the chart from Glassnode, a popular research and on-chain data analytics platform, the metric has fallen from its peak in late 2024. Currently, the tide of new user onboarding and involvement that formerly drove network growth has slowed in recent months.

Glassnode announced that new wallet addresses on the XRP network have collapsed from 18,000 XRP in a single day in December to about 2,700 XRP per day as of yesterday. This drop from the 2024 high to today’s levels represents a more than 85% decrease after over a year.

In the ever-evolving crypto market, new addresses are often linked to retail investors. Therefore, the declining new addresses’ activity points to a sign of weakening retail involvement, particularly during times of increased speculation and market excitement.

Amid this fading, new wallet addresses created on the XRP network, its monthly active supply is telling a different story. As reported by Glassnode, the monthly active supply is exhibiting bearish activity, dropping from 7.4 billion XRP per day to around 2 billion per day over the same period.
