The launch extends a playbook already used on bitcoin and ether to another layer‑1 network, giving traditional funds a way to hold Avalanche through a regulated wrapper while letting Bitwise handle the technical complexity of staking on‑chain. According to Bitwise’s announcement, BAVA will hold AVAX directly and participate in the network’s staking via Bitwise Onchain Solutions, targeting an average staking yield of roughly 5.4% while keeping a portion of assets liquid so that ETP shares can trade normally on the NYSE. PANews reports the fund expects to allocate around 70% of its AVAX holdings to staking and 30% to liquidity reserves, distributing net staking rewards to investors on a regular basis. Winklevoss Capital moves $43 million in bitcoin to custody after hitting lowest balance since 
Some 572 bitcoin worth $42.77 million moved from a Gemini hot wallet into wallets owned by Winklevoss Capital and custody wallets in the past 24 hours, according to Arkham Intelligence data, the first significant transfers into the fund's addresses in over a month.
The transfers came in two batches. One of 372 $BTC and one of 200 $BTC about 11 hours later. Both moved from addresses tagged by Arkham as belonging to the crypto exchange to addresses tagged as Winklevoss Capital and Gemini Custody.
Winklevoss Capital now holds 9,328 $BTC worth $689 million across 128 tracked addresses, up from about 8,800 $BTC after a $128.5 million deposit into Gemini roughly a month ago that brought holdings to their lowest level since 2012.

It also holds 70,588 ETH worth $163.7 million, bringing its total tracked portfolio to approximately $853 million, the Arkham data show.
The onchain data shows the direction of movement, not the intent. The transfers could reflect new purchases, internal rebalancing between Gemini's exchange and custody infrastructure, or a partial reversal of last month's deposit.

The descending wedge from the November peak near $0.6500 has both boundaries meeting at current price. The lower boundary rises from the February low at $0.2200, the upper boundary slopes down from the November high, and both converge near $0.2390 to $0.2450 this week.

Four EMAs stack bearishly above. The 20-day at $0.2490, 50-day at $0.2625, 100-day at $0.3033, and 200-day at $0.3963 have not been cleared since the selloff began. The SAR at $0.2644 adds another resistance layer just above the 20-day. A daily close above $0.2450 and then the SAR at $0.2644 is the breakout sequence. Losing $0.243 on a daily close, as Ali Charts warns, opens yearly lows near $0.10 with no support in between.

North Korean hackers used AI-enabled social engineering in Zerion attack

Crypto wallet Zerion revealed that North Korean-affiliated hackers used AI in a long-term social engineering attack to steal about $100,000 from the company’s hot wallets last week.

The Zerion team released a post-mortem on Wednesday, where it confirmed that no user funds, Zerion apps or infrastructure were affected and that it had proactively disabled the web app as a precaution.

While the amount was relatively small in crypto hacking terms, it is another incident of a crypto worker being targeted for an “AI-enabled social engineering attack linked to a DPRK threat actor,” Zerion said.

It is the second attack of this nature this month, following the $280 million exploit of the Drift Protocol, which was the victim of a “structured intelligence operation” by DPRK-affiliated hackers. The human layer, not smart contract bugs, has now become North Korea’s primary point of entry into crypto firms.

AI is changing the way cyber threats work

Zerion said the attacker gained access to some team members’ logged-in sessions and credentials, as well as private keys to company hot wallets.

“This incident showed that AI is changing the way cyber threats work,” the company said.

It confirmed that the attack was similar to those that had been investigated by the Security Alliance (SEAL) last week.

SEAL reported that it had tracked and blocked 164 domains linked to the DPRK group UNC1069 in a two-month window from February to April.

It stated that the group operates “multiweek, low-pressure social engineering campaigns” across Telegram, LinkedIn and Slack. Malicious actors impersonate known contacts or credible brands or leverage access to previously compromised company and individual accounts.

Ripple Strikes Deal with Korea’s Largest Life Insurance Company to Expand Custody Usage

Ripple has struck a landmark deal with one of South Korea’s largest life insurers to tokenize government bonds on the blockchain. This deal is the country’s first such institutional settlement and a push into regulated digital asset infrastructure.

The partnership with Kyobo Life Insurance was announced in Seoul on Wednesday, April 15, centered on Ripple Custody. It will handle the secure holding, transfer, and near-real-time settlement of tokenized bonds, replacing the traditional two-day cycle with instantaneous on-chain execution.

That shift is expected to cut counterparty risk and free up capital more efficiently. The two sides will also examine the regulatory and technical path for broader tokenized Treasury operations, with plans to eventually link the infrastructure to payments, liquidity management, and treasury functions.

Over time, the setup is designed to serve as a model for other regulated players, starting with custody and expanding into full tokenization and settlement. Ripple will also support Kyobo’s exploration of stablecoin rails for 24/7-compliant transactions.

The initiative aligns with Kyobo’s push to modernize operations through next-generation financial technology.

Fiona Murray, Ripple’s managing director for Asia Pacific, described Korea’s institutional market as reaching a decisive moment and said the tie-up with Kyobo shows that enterprise-ready blockchain tools are already deployable today. Murray called it the start of a deeper, long-term commitment to the Korean financial sector.
